I ordered a 500 set of Mardi Gras chips from holdempokerchips.com (great service btw), I got 4 cut cards, 2 packs of kems, and a rounders special edition dvd with the set. This is my first set of "real" chips. I have over 2000 11.5 "clay" chips. These just cannot be compared. I love the mardi gras. Have a great weight to them, and a great feel. They have a fine sandpaper feel to them, which is good, so the chips dont go flying. The sound is so superior, along with the feel. Two bones to pick with the chips though. The edge sports dont match up, and the graphics are a bit blurry. My question is, are these chipco chips? They sounds like they are, with the edgespots not matching up, and they look similar to a chipco chip, but they wouldnt say who the manufacturer is.

They are not Chipco, but they're the closest you can get. You're right about the edge spots not lining up, that's inherent with both these and the Chipcos. I'm awaiting the day when Chipco will find a way (or find the motivation) to make the edges match up. This is the #1 thing I hear people complain about. (me included)
Your Mardi Gras chips are an exclusive design owned by http://holdempokerchips.com . They are made by the same people that make the Nevada Jacks "Skulls" and Desert Sands.

Yeah, the Mardi Gras chips are nice, aren't they. With their "etched" finish (or whatever you might call it), they're the best surface for stacking a ceramic chip, IMO. And they just feel good.
Nice New Orleans look, too.
Congrats on your new addition!

Does anyone have information on the B et G chipss. Played at a home game this week and the host had retired casino chips made by BG... Interesting that all the edge spots lined up with the face and there were no pimples or lines were the edge was applied. Texture was closer to NJ skulls than Chipco's
A local card room I recently played at had BG chips. These also had edge spots aligned with face.

And these were ceramic, not clay? Maybe it'll light a fire under Chipco's a*% so they can line them up too. The Suits hips would be perfect if the edges lined up.

B&G is the European company that purchased Paulson. Their chips are the standard in Europe. (They now call their total company Gaming Partners International - GPI.)
The B&G chips I have are more like Bud Jones chips, with a rubber/plastic outside.
But I noticed a different line of chips described in their brochure (the "Full Face" line, page 4 and pages 14-15). It doesn't say whether they're ceramic or what. Warning: PDF file!

They highlight how the tops and edges are lined up, probably a dig at Chipco (which would be like the manufacturing process for Bud Jones and B&G chips).
Don't know if they would sell to consumers (probably not), or if a dealer could make a large purchase....

They are ceramics. I have a couple Hard Rock London and Palms LE chips. The edge spots mostly lined up on the Hard Rocks and the edge spots on the Palms I have don't have any spots to line up with on the face.

How would everybody rate these versus the pokerchips.com clay chips?

B&G chips are injection molded plastic, albeit of a high quality, like Bud Jones.

The Bud Jones Injection molded chips (without the magnetic insert) that the 2004 WSOP uses almost sound EXACTLY like clay chips. I REALLY REALLY like them. 2003 WSOP used magnetic BJ and other mixed chips.
I think the 4 queens in LV uses those for thier .50/$1 chips. I just might pick some up next time.

Both the Bicycle and Commerce card rooms down your way use BJ chips with the brass insert if that's the 'non-magnetic' one that you're referring to. It's got a vinyl label over the brass insert for the inlay.

yea, those do have an insert, but not the magnetic ones.
I am looking for the identical chips used in the WSOP. I have about 100 chips that are mixed of the sort. I like em a lot. No inserts. Its similar to the Bicycle's $1 blue chip but with a bigger inlay.

Not all B&G chips are injection molded plastic. Go pick up a few of the Palms casino chips and tell me those are injection molded plastic.
BTW, I was just there a couple nights ago.
