JJ is a hard hand to play.
But once you lose afew with JJ you start playing them differently.
Here is how I play JJ.
Preflop - call any marginal raises. I don't raise and I drop them on large bets from player who play tight and aggressive. I'll see a large bet from a loosee player.
Flop - if flop is all under cards and no pairs, I'm in and betting. If an undercard pair is flopped I will check and call if a marginal bet is made. If overcards are flopped I'm out. J flops I'm trying to figure out how to trap them.
You have to be prepared to fold JJ after the flop if your hand doesn't improve and if over cards are flopped. If your holding JJ and the flop is 5KA chances are you are now behind.
but thats just me.
its been working well for me lately.

I play them similarly to you, but in these situations I felt they were the best hand. In the first hand, it was against a tight player (super tight, never raised preflop with anything so he could have been holding anything but top trips are usually good, and were til the river) and in the second hand, this guy was very loose, and bet heavy on a flopped pair, so I knew I had him, which I did, he just got lucky. In retrospect, I would have played them the same way, I just got slapped with the bad beat stick.

assuming there are no overcards on the flop, what sinks me usually with the JJ is of course, QQ, KK, and AA.
I hate JJ, and J10. It is unwise to hate good hands like JJ but I cant help it.

I don't hate them. Pocket Jacks have done me well lately , I hit trips three times holding JJ just this week. So I LOVE them. I'd rather have pocket jacks then a lower pocket pair. HOwever....I'd prefer a higher one....but you take what you can get....you never know what the flop will bring.
I'm just realistic about their strength. You HAVE to be prepared to put them down the moment you think you dont' have the best hand. No help on the flop and over cards have come up.....your beat...do yourself a favor and put them down if raised.

First hand.... why wouldn't he play A7 to a 3xBB raise? It's 4 handed... so A7 is probably the best hand preflop, he's got position on you, and hes getting 2:1 on a call. It was a 5 outer, you were about an 80/20 favorite, but that shit happens.
Second hand.... sucks to be you.
