Hey everyone!
I'm new here obviously...stumbled on here Google searching. Great forum and I hope to learn a lot.
In the last month I had been playing a weekly dealer's choice home game with $500 buy in and was up $1200 plus $600 I had from blackjack last month so I decided to do a New Years weekend romp at Foxwoods...Boy am I glad I did.
First off I consider myself definitely an amateur with good base knowledge and decent chip moving ability after 2 years of play. I generally will play 10-20 or 1/2 NL and seem to always win a few hundred bucks, but not enough to warrant a 5/5 NL or 75-150 game...until now!
I went on an absolute tear this weekend, played 36 hours with a 5 hour break. I always play a customary 1/2 hour of blackjack first to calm me down, and this time I won $2000 in that 1/2 hour (never done that before LOL) so I headed straight to the 10/20 table with $500 in chips and doubled it in 3 hours.
I decided that I would go home with no less than $2000 so I put that away and headed to a 1/2 NL with max $100 buy in, I figured I could relax and play really tight. I only played Pairs 10 and up and AKs and after 12 hours was up another $850! I retired for the night and came back in the AM up $3100 (paid my hotel and meals cash).
The next AM my blackjack 1/2 hour brought me no luck, broke even so I headed over to the 1/2 again and played for 13 hours, raking in another $500! So up $3600 I decided to go home, but the blackjack table called my name again.
I sat down with $500 and played double handed and started hitting the crap out of the game. I got so hot that two ladies started playing behind me. I kept shovelling $500 chips in my pocket and playing with the original $500, and promised everyone I would only leave when it was gone.
Well, I did lose the $500, but not before I hauled in another $6000. I still can't believe it! I won $9000 on New Years!
What would you do with $9000???

Shake- Already bought a new TV this year. Also bought new cars etc...
I guess campbeas has the right idea. I'll keep playing home games and hit the casino monthly.

Well I mean, you said you felt you were ready to move up to a higher limit but didnt' have the stack.....well theres your gift stack.....move up if you feel your ready.
There are a ton of things I would do with $9000 before I put it on a poker table. For instance I'm $40000 in debt from student loans, $1500 to mastercard, $600 to my grandfather.
So maybe that $9000 can ease your debt load ..... if its as ugly as mine.
Either way.....good luck in the future and I hope that $9000 helps you out in whatever your doing with it.....unless your at a tabel with me in which case i hope you drop the whole thing into my pocket.

I wouldn't ever put my entire poker/gambling bankroll on one table, but I'd sure give you a shot at some of it.
My student loans are down to a manageable amount, and my cc debt is gone now. I have a great career (self employed) and a good amount of time to hone my skills. I'd love to get to the point of playing at a table with 100k there, but I need to develop a LOT to get there.

I thought about it, as they had them going all weekend. But I just couldn't get up from the table making me money to buy into a $60 buy in tourney. I'm sure I will at another time.
I have no delusions of being a pro player, although I wouldn't mind being that good at poker.

Great story, do you play online? Welcome aboard too :D

Hi Geno,
No, I don't play online. I find I loosen up too much and turn into a calling station which doesn't improve my play at all. I may start in the future but I believe I'm MUCH stronger in person.
Thanks for the welcome.

With that kind of bank I would skip the ActI and go straight to the $150 ActIIs

Update:
Well I decided to play some internet poker on EmpirePoker and wasted $500 there playing 15-30. Went up by 350 and then hit a bad run of decent but losing hands and soon found myself scrapping to break even. Couldn't manage it and lost the whole nut.
so then I headed over to my Monday night game and got cleaned out for $1000 on some REALLY bad beats, including a hand in which I had four 5's and was beat by four 10's. Yek.
So I'm still up, but I need to slow down considerably if I want to stay that way.
