I wish I could forget what I folded |

The past 2 days I've noticed my game has improved alot over the past month or so. I seem to have better instincts and have been keeping my play tight and aggressive.
But last night I hald Q6o, which I don't play unless in very late position with no raise, BB or SB to no raise. I folded as per usual casue I was in middle position facing a raise and a reraise. The flop Q66. Turn Q, river Q.
WTF.
Then just now it happened again. Same thing. Holding Q6o in mid position facing a raise....I fold. Flop QQ6. Turn x, river Q.
I know I shouldnt' play Q6o in mid position to a raise but that is just frustrating....folding the boat flop and then the eventual nut quad Q whith like 5 people in the pot to the river...oh what big pots those would ahve been.
I wish I could instantly forget my hole cards after I fold
I would just stop watching the round, but you can pick up valuble betting patterns and bluffing patterns watching the rest of the table play....so thats not going to happen.
le sigh

Write down everytime you fold a hand that would have lost too.
Any hand can win with a favourable flop.
What we do as poker players, is only playing when the odds are in our favour. Only play when you're likely to win.
I can feel proud over folding A6 or whatever. Sometimes there's an ace coming on the flop, but usually my pair of aces would have been losers anyway. Either to a higher hand or to a higher kicker. I end up saving a lot of money that way. This is where the tight part comes into play. You play tight to minimize your losses. You play aggressive to maximize the profits when you do play.
If you were only interested in winning as many pots as possible you should play every hand to the river, raising at every opportunity all the way.
Remember why you fold Q6o. And remember every time that it was correct to fold them too.

I find it helps if i don't even look at my hole cards and just play every hand blind.
No wait as minute i don't really do that!

I played a home game completely blind....everyone got pissed cause I was way up hitting flushes and straights on the river on EVERY hand. It was f*cking hilarious. I ended up breaking even on the night.
Good times.

you cant blame yourself for folding a mediocre hand preflop and getting lucky on that hand after flop...everyone probably got lucky on a crap hand sometime, but thats not the reason to play crap hands ))

haha, I'm not asking if I should start playing q6 in early position.
A lemon is still a lemon no matter how you squeeze it and q6 will get you in trouble.....even sometimes when you flop the set...your still in danger.
I'd play q6o if I was the button or next to the button....no one raised and I was guarunteed to be playing 4 handed or less.

I'm usually pretty good at folding and forgetting myself. It will drive you nuts to keep watching the board to see what you would have had.

I can't help it
And I've been finding lately that everytime I watch ..... I flop the nuts or top 2 pair or a set. its been crazy lately.
First off, I've been on quite a roll getting poclet pairs and hitting sets.
I was in a MTT last night and I swear to god I was delt at least 15 pp and 90% of them hit sets. I won all of them.
And hands I layed down that were like J2o and K5o would also hit sets with the low cards meaning I had the high kicker. But I still coulnd't bring myself to risk chips hoping for sets with random shitty cards.
It was just a good night for me last night.
Sets, flush draws, straigh draws.....I was on a good run.

I folded A 10 in a S&G the other night. (high blinds and early pos) Flop comes. A 10 8.
Tough luck? Well, in the end a guy catches a straight... Maybe I could have gone all in after the flop and scared him off, but then again, I could have been kicked out.
In poker, nothing is as easy as it seems.

Don't fall into the "any two" trap whatever you do. "Any two" is the mantra of the ignorant.

Play 4 tables of Pot Limit Omaha, you'll forget real quick.

I still remember the bitter day I folded a jack of hearts and a 3 I think. Ofcourse, I know that in the position I was in this was the correct thing to do. But I still remember what hit the board. 10, Q, K, A of hearts. Oh, it would have been bliss to hold a royal! I have never even seen it dealt! And all those people who bet with their hearts! Tho, I agree with the posts above ofcourse

I was playing small stakes on-line no limit one night. Was dealt 10 J of spades and limped into the pot. Low and behold the flop is Q K A of spades... a royal flush! I was stunned. I was dismayed to then watch every player fold around the table when I bet the minimum. LOL

I've taken to noting each starting hand I play online, then noting the ones I folded that turned into winners. I'm quite comfortable when that list is Q6o, A9o, etc.
