Alright.......I am not going to rant.......too much Here is the story. Played this morning at UB. 3 sit and go's and 1 multitable no limit tourney. In EVERY one, I was put out by a miracle card on the river. EVERY ONE. I don't care if I lose to a better hand going in, and I know that sometimes the other guy will hit his draw, but I'm talking MIRACLE cards. Last sit and go... played very aggressive... most players were folding to me. so i pick up A8 suited. Raise the BB. he calls. Flop is 832 rainbow. he checks, I bet 1/2 the pot. call. 4th st. falls 6. I think I have the best hand so I Move in. BB calls. Over we go and dude has pocket 4's. I have the best hand so I'm feeling pretty good about a double up. until....Bang....5 on the river. Done and done in. I read dude for high cards or underpair. I think I played it right, but he is still playing, and I am writing this. I was put out of 4 tourneys today by draws on the river. What am I doing wrong? Please help me.

I dont think that you did anything wrong. However-you aggressive play early probably made the other guy put you on 2 high cards w/ no pair. Or just someone trying to steal a pot after a crappy flop. Also-only and 8, set of 2s or set of 3s or a bigger pair would beat him. Not many players will raise w/ A8, 22 or 33. If you didnt raise 3x the BB preflop, you probably dont have a big pair, so I dont think it unreasonable for him to think that he has the best hand. Depending on the size of the blinds and number of callers before your raise, a 1/2 pot bet may have been just the right size to let him think that you are trying to steal-esp heads up. If you went all in before the turn, it may have changed things if you both had similar stacks. I dont know if he would want to commit all his chips w/ an under pair against an all in bet.

I play in those all the time at Ub. I Hate it when somebody gets lucky and catches the one card they need, I dont mind my flsuh getting beat by full houses etc...But i dont like my aa beign beat by ak. my aa being beat by 4 8 off suit. Some people just shouldnt play...lol but all in all ive won a crapload of sit n go's so i tend to outsmart them very easly . My best place in a tourney is 3rd. nothing sucks more then you all in with k 4 suited. Other guy all in with k 2 off suit. You have 2 pair and he catches 4 dimonds to hit a flush with the 2...Especialy when he went all in with a pair of kings with a 2 kicker....

The beat with the A8 reminds me very much of a beat I took recently, except at least with your beat the other guy had 6 cards to hit (6.33 - 1 shot), in this story there was only one out (41 - 1 shot).
Here is the story.... I was playing a single table tournament on Paradise Poker and I had a fairly short stack, about 700 chips (you start with 1000 on PP), so I was looking to double through. I was on the button and a few people called but nobody raised so I tried to steal the pot with A8 off suit. I raised to about 100 (the big blind was 20) and I got 3 callers. The flop came down A82 and it was checked round to me. Excellent, I thought, I have top two pair, nobody has bet so if I go all in now it will look like a steal and at least one of the big stacks still in the hand will hopefully call me with a single ace. I went all in expecting probably one caller. One guy called, another went over the top all in and the original caller called again. When the cards were rolled they were both holding A2 so they had top and bottom pair and I had top two pair. Of course, since I flagged this as a bad beat story you all know what happened next - the case 2 comes on the turn, the river is a blank and I can't believe I got knocked out by a 1 outer.
Just the other day I had a very similar beat. I was on the big blind and one guy made a crappy little raise, the sort that poor players make that do nothing other than tell you that they have a reasonably strong hand. I had A8 off again. The flop came 8 high so I check raised him, putting him on two high cards. He called the raise and the turn came down an ace. This made me think I had him because if he did have 2 high cards (AK - AQ or AJ maybe) he would now think he was best with top pair and a good kicker. I checked again and sure enough he goes all in and I call him (he had more chips so I was all in calling). He rolls AQ so I have read it perfectly and outplayed him completely, obviously a queen comes on the river and I get knocked out with A8 again.
I have lost big money with A8 so many times now that I am extremely wary of playing it. Trouble is, especially with online play, that a lot of the players you play against think they have a good hand if they have the pair of aces and will rarely throw it, even if their kicker is poor. On the other hand, players cannot believe they are losing if they have top pair and a good kicker, hence the guy calling with AQ and not even considering the hand I am holding. Often, people call all in bets with nothing but overcards, risking a huge amount of chips on what is, at best, a 6 outer. Because of this compulsion for online players to call with crap hands I think you suffer more bad beats online than in real tournaments where the play tends to be a bit tighter.

That beat with the A2 is a killer. 93% fav to win after the flop. Like I said, I dont like to lose, but to a better hand, but i understand it. When the longest of longshots keep hitting, it gives me pause. I really hopt that this dose not affect my live game.

the same thing happened to me a couple of times. Like once when someone bluffed me over the top with 2 3 of and i got beat with holding qj suited.
