I'm currently looking for some nice chips to use in homegames a few times a month... Had money not been an issue I would have gone straight for the BPC's Archetype set but sadly being a student I have to aim a bit lower.
The Nevada Jacks composite set seems nice and affordable, are there any other sets in that pricerange and quality (or even better quality ) I should take into consideration?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Here are some group buys going on... some are cross posted on this forum:
Clays...
Dbl Edge Spot TR Kings Crowns
Teddy KGB Chips
Chipco's... missed the initial buy but can still get a good deal before the next increase
Ten's Egyptian Chips
The NJ Composites are definitely good for the money. The group buys are slightly more but cheaper than going on your own. If you want to hold out for customs later the Nexgen's with custom labels is a good economical choice.
Check out pokerchipreviews.com and Highend chip info thread plus some info on Matsui & customs
Happy reading

Go for the new paulsons, they are the original that everyone is trying to imitate. Why get a wanna be when you can have the original deal for the same or less.

Since when is Paul-Son the original? Both TR King and ASM are much more established companies, and I think it was ASM that actually made the first Paul-Son chips, before they established their own manufacturing facilities. Of the current casino chip manufacturers, they're the new kid on the block only junior to their succesor, Blue Chip. The only reason so many of the kiddies want Paul-Son chips is because their presence is dominating much of the casino market along with other GPI companies like Bud Jones, and Paul-Son may be the only name they may have heard. And speaking about Bud Jones, what's wrong with an injection molded 12 gram plastic chip with a metal slug in it (other than it isn't manufactured in China ).

The new Paulsons look quite nice, but just like Fins I dislike the mold. I also dont like the quite large label. I dont know about you but I prefer more clay and less graphics on clay chips. I do hope they will make more variants but I will most definitely pick up some samples of this set.
As for the group buys you organise here, Im from Sweden, does that bar me from joining?

I think all of the retail Paul-Son chips will be the same color with the same edgespots, with the only variation being the design of the 7/8" inlay. That's there standard or classic sized inlay, not one of the larger inlays that have grown more popular recently.

I just noticed 702 ended their pre-sale on the new Paulson chips. "Paulson is backed up and changed our shipping date."
I wonder how many times that will happen before they actually come out.

I would check with the organizers. Seems like one of them had someone from Norway interested... was asking if the organizer could label the packages as gifts to save on taxes. Also, seems like there was someone overseas in the services and another poster with location = Japan.
