This guy has some really good points. But, I'm still watching it to see if it grows into anything good.

Welp, I watched the first episode. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It wasn't Rounders good, but I don't think anyone was expecting that. I will definately watch the next episode, but I won't necessarily plan my evening around it.

I thought Tilt was entertaining, if not supremely stupid.

We all know it's not realistic. The idea is that it's a new setting for a Soap Opera: a bunch of poker/gambler/lowlife cliches, and it takes a newly vogue subculture to a fairly standard level of hyperbole.

People do pull guns at poker games. People do cheat. People DO have burning vendettas, personal problems, and a whole host of anything else.

It's entertaining to see it at such a ridiculously boorish level though. The dialogue was horrible, the poker was moderately realistic, the table talk was ridiculous, and the plot did an amazing job of seeming to have twenty times the depth it actually did.

I enjoy it for the same reasons I used to enjoy professional wrestling, and I'm assuming for the same reason many people are so absolutely nut about other shows.

Middle-aged women have General Hospital/The Young and the Restless. The newly created "poker fan" demographic has Tilt.

I also liked seeing Daniel Negreanu playing craps. And it gave me some great lines to use ("No, I played them because I HAVE a pair.")

And I'm going to compare any downswing I ever have to being attacked by ninjas from now on.

Who knew ESPN could make a show worse than Playmakers.

The sad thing is, I'll probably keep watching it to get my poker fix. I feel like an unpopular high school girl who cuts herself just to feel the pain.

The really, really sad thing is... the same schmucks that watch WSOP and think they can play Hold'em will start using the "I saw your face when you looked at yours" line (and many others, I'm sure) at tables, not to mention that they'll still scream and yell every time they win.

Well, that's fine with me as long as I knock them out. I was talking to guy next to me at work yesterday and he mentioned he's been watching the WSOP and played in his first tournament this past weekend. It was funny when he was telling me the details of this tournament. They all started off with 12,500 chips and he wasn't sure what the BB and SB were. etc...
My point is, as long these guys continue to play, the more money we will win. And Tilt will just continue to add to the fire.

Sorry about the qoute thing....Still trying to figure that shiznit out.

I wasn't going to even really watch it until I found out Michael Madsen was in it. I wasn't disapointed by the show, as I had low expectations for it anyway. My girlfriend (who's pretty good at her game) and I found ourselves laughing a great deal, as it had some over-the-top lines/senarios. Best line of the show: "When I take a crap, I wipe my ass with 8,000 dollars- 9,000 if I've had chilli" (or something to that effect).

There were *some* interesting aspects of the show.

But I felt that the show was working way too hard on the set up of characters - we met at least nine folks that will probably have storylines overlapping throughout the season. What I felt it was seriously lacking was a rock solid plot.

My favorite part was when the fanboy asked him to sign his book. Seems so appropo considering the popularity of holdem today.
