100 Player Tournament

Posted Thu Jan 13, 2005 4:45 am GMT by Sirtaco
I've been hosting home games for a awhile now, we have plenty chips for a 24 player tournement. I am concidering buying enough chips to host a 100 player tournament.

For our home games our buy-in gets us 1500 chips this is how its broken down:

Red=5---------15 Chips
Green=25-----13 Chips
Black=100-----6 Chips
Purple=500----1 Chip
Yellow=1000----Used for Color Ups
Gray=5000------Used for Color Ups

Keeping this is mind, my question is how many more chips would I need to host a 100 player tournament, that has re-buys and color-ups.

This is what I have at the moment:

Reds------------400 Chips
Green-----------350 Chips
Black------------150 Chips
Purple-----------100 Chips
Yellow-----------100 Chips
Gray-------------100 Chips

Or give me of a suggestion on how you would run it with your chip amounts and values.

I have a spreadsheet I made that I use for tourneys. Basically, onec I put in the number of players and chip values, it figures out all the rest. A couple modifications and plugging in some numbers for you and I came up with this. This is figuring on 50 rebuys. Also, the 200 Red for rebuys is just a rough figure, I'd only use red for the first few rebuys, after that don't use any more red. After a few levels, if people need reds when they rebuy, they can buy them off another player.

STARTING CHIPS
Chip Color # of Chips # of players Chips per player Chip Value Subtotal
Red 1500 100 15 $5.00 $75.00
Green 1300 100 13 $25.00 $325.00
Black 600 100 6 $100.00 $600.00
Purple 100 100 1 $500.00 $500.00
Total Chips $1,500.00
Chips in play 3500 $150,000.00

REBUY CHIPS
# of rebuys Green Black Purple Red
50 400 400 50 200

SUBTOTAL AFTER REBUYS
Red Green Black Purple
1700 1700 1000 150

COLOR UPS

Red to Black 85
Green to Black 425
Black to Purple 302
Purple to Yellow 114
Purple to Grey 24

TOTALS NEEDED
Red Green Black Purple Yellow Grey
1700 1700 1510 452 114 24

Sorry if it's hard to follow that previous message, the formatting didn't come out too well when I cut and paste from Excel. But the TOTALS all the way down at the bottom are really what matters. Also, if you need me to change the number of rebuys from 50 to something else, let me know and I'll get you new totals.

Sure, just drop your email here or message it to me and I'll send it to ya.
Just be careful not to edit the cells that do contain formulas.

we run a 100 man game in colorado once a month or so. It fills up most of the time.

We have (kind of strange with no 25 chips):

1000 - $10 white
800 - $50 red
300 - $100 green
150- $200 blue
150 - $500 black
100 - $1000 yellow
25 - $5000 purple
100 - headhunter chip pink (to count how many people you knock out for a prize at end.)
Each player gets 10 whites, 8 reds, 3 greens, a blue and a black and a pink for a total of 1500 in chips with one HH.

Kind of unorthodox, but it works great. It is just the right ammount of chips for color ups and everything. We have a blind structure that works great with the chips, they are colored off at the right times.
