Hi folks. I'm new to the forum. I'm in the market for some high quality chips. The Paulson Vineyard chips look great and get rave reviews from everyone. I'd prefer to get higher denomination chips though as it's nice to pretend to have money. These chips have been showing up for sale on Ebay. (If I could figure out how to insert the photo I would). An example on Ebay is item number 6145373670. Are they the real deal? They are being sold in small quantities (20 or so chips at a time). Can sets of 500 or 750 be purchased?
Thanks.

Why don't you contact the seller directly? He goes by the name of PaulsonChips around here.

PaulsonChips is not the one selling the Top Hat and Cane Bond chips.
To answer your question bugzig, yes those chips are the real deal. They aren't easy to come by these days so they can get quite pricey, too pricey IMO. If don't want to pay 2-3 dollars a chip, you could look into getting a custom set made for yourself. Those you could get for about a buck a chip.

I used to have 5000 of the Paulson Isthmus, but those ALL sold in about 2 weeks.
I now only have a 2000 chipset for myself.
I do however have Vineyards.

Why bother? Paulson is re-releasing these chips this month for $1 or less per chip...

The same reason that Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo is still in business after the knockoffs,
Some people would foot the price for the real thing. (Myself included)
I might pick up a 1000 of the new Paulsons piece set for the kids when they come over and play. I hate bringing out the good stuff and I dont want to deny the kids!

I've seen these with 2 different "molds" along the side. Tophat/cane and shells. Are both legit?

I would love to have a set of Paulson Vineyards, Casino De Ithmas or enen Le Cove resort chips for my cash games. I currently have 1250 custom chipco chips I use and like them very much but would like another set. I guess I am going to have to settle for the new paulsons

The tophat/cane mold are Paulson.
The shell mold I think is Blue Chip(correct me if I'm wrong).
And soon there will be new ones from Paulson but they aren't using the tophat/cane mold. The mold for home chips will now be a text mold that reads "Paulson Chips"

Spoken like salesman who has a ton of old Paulsons.... Truth is, we are not sure the quality of the new chips but various info says they will be the same quality as their casino chips. They are not knock-offs, terrible analogy. If they end up not as good as the old ones a better analogy may be a Honda Accord vs an Acura TL... both work the same, one is more chic and has more bells and whistles. Essentially the same car but the market for the Honda is far greater.
The real key here is price.... are the old Paulsons 2 or 3 times better than the new ones because that is what the price says right now.?
My prediction is that there will always be a market for the original chips but that market will shrink exponentially and be mainly collectors or chip snobs =o). Most the people who want the DeIsthmus chips are after the look and feel, they are probably not willing to pay 2 or 3 times as much for a chip that feels similar but has a nicer mold.

One additional draw back to the new Paulsons (besides the mold) is that
they will all be the same color combinations. Whether your
Dice702/Apache, Trademark/5 Star, or doing your own "customs" of
100,000 or more, the color schemes will all be the same, only difference
will be the center inlay, nothing else. Stacked up they will all look the same

And you wont get his snazzy result when you put a UV light up to them.
You will on the Vineyards... , but then again, not everyone drives a Benz.

Sure you can, all you need is some permanent UV ink. If you want to make it look neat, you could use a rubber stamp and an alcohol based ink on a stamp pad. It's a means that people can use on their custom labels (before spraying) as well for security if they have such a need. If you can't find the UV ink and portable UV light pens from a local print shop, they're all over eBay. It is important that you use a permanent ink, and not the water soluable stuff that is used for event re-entry.

If I ever need UV light for my game, I'm retiring.

At the very least, you'd need to be a bit more selective about whom you invite to your games
