It's just too bad the $100's don't fit in the regular racks.

Now that is a stack of chips!! Very nice indeed. Off topic question, what type of railing is that used in the photo of the chips on the poker table? Is that the prefitted stuff?

Posted Tue Jan 18, 2005 4:17 pm GMT by PaulsonChips
I sell those tables, I dont have them online right now, but I just might start listing them on my store. Its really sweet with quality materials and such.
I will post more pics of chips and tables when I get the chance.

My new Digital Camera is coming in the mail today. My old one went on the fritz.

How about other members posting some pics?

Yea, I cant put them in the birdcage carriers, But I managed to get some 43mm chip racks though that fit them perfectly. Just cant stack them with 39mm chips

I'll give you two HUNDRED dollars for them.

That's alot to pay for 43mm chip racks! Laughing

Awesome chips PC! I like the logo and the colors but it's always bothered me that the standard colors aren't used Confused That $20 chip would make a nice $100!

Are there 2 colors for the white $100's? Looks that way in the pic... or is it a $500... is that the one that's 43mm?

Thanks for posting,
Fins

Posted Tue Jan 18, 2005 6:14 pm GMT by PaulsonChips
Those are 43mm chips ($100's and $500's)
There are 2 types of $100 chips.

What happend was originally only the $100 with the custom 4 edge spot chips were used. However, during the operation of the Casino, those chips were compromised. So the casino in a quick fluster, called Paulson and ordered a standard edge spot design and made a second set of $100's. (Doubled the number of $100 chips)

If this did not happen, the $100 chips were would commanding a really high price right now. If you pay attention to the color schemes, the 4 spotted $100 chip fits the set better, however, for some reason people tend to prefer the 8 spotted $100's.

Those are very sweet. Could you tell me which colors are used for these chips. I love the colors used in these; I just wish that they could make these for home sets. I know they don't do double-edge spots, so these would be a sweet alternative. I am not too sure I like the idea of all the chips currently made for home sets using the standard 3 1/2" spots.

I hope one day to be able to get a set of those.

BTW: Did they ever make a $1000 chip? I see 2 different 500 and a 5000, but no 1000

Posted Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:18 pm GMT by ott
This is not directed at anyone in particular.

To everyone posting pictures of their chips, bravo! As a side note, some of the images are quite big, 500KB or so. Even with fast connections, it takes a bit of time to load. Resizing and optimizations can easy reduce the file size to 1/4 of the original while maintaining picture resolution and quality. Smile

I believe all ASM chips do (pokerchips.com/kardwell.com)

My sample chips from PC do.

Posted Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:47 pm GMT by MeridianFC
Other than the Borland fantasy chips, which were also ASM, the Palmas are probably my favorite chips going. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again (and again and again) if ASM made that style of chip available I'd order at least 2K.

I can't understand why ASM doesn't sell those as fantasy chips. No casino is going to use a body that's already out there in some sort of quantity (30K IIRC).

Don't get me started on the greatness that was the Borland chips.

The ASM chips do have brass flaking but they are not as shiny and you can tell the quality is different. The new ASM chips also have a "furry" edge to them and it seems that the quality is a lot lower.

Well here's my second attempt at this. I don't know how to use my wife's digcam or the editing software so apologies for the crapness of the photos/jpegs/etc.

I got this set of 1020 (the 20 is from 5 extra of each color) edge spotted Paulsons back in 1998. I bought the set in two intallments, half from casinocom.com, who there are enough storie floating around and the other half direct from the Paulson office in AC. You could just walk in off the street and buy the fantasy chips or order these semi custom. If I'd have known that it was going to be impossible to expand the set I would've certainly gone for a larger number and custom inserts which were available at the time.

These are all no denom, hot stamped with a single large "K" (hey each chip is X 1000!). From time to time I've almost sold 'em as I really wanted denominated chips, but I just love how the feel, sound, and handle.

its worth mentioning that Meridian's chips use the exact same edge colors as the new paulson home chips. so if you want to know what a real one will look like, then these are a prime example.

duma wrote:

Actually the new Paulsons are a slight variation on these. All the new Paulsons are four double edge spots (the mustard I have is three double and the red is three triple). The blue chip has added a white spot (mine has single seafoam blue). I think the green is pretty much the same.

Paulson used to have about 16-20 standard edge spotted bodies they used for all the fantasy chips. You used to be able to order custom inserts and everthing.

FWIW the pinks and blues in the edge spots above are actually much different on each chip though for some reason they look the same. Blame it on my shite camera work.

Sorry for the utter crapness of the image.

can you plz post pics of those Palms tournament chips that you recently gave away? also, im wondering if you could acquire the Paulson Celebrity Poker chips from the Palms as well.

I will try to get those pics up.

I have already requested some of those chips. I doubt I will get very many since they dont get much use.

My contact should get me a minimum of 100 chips per denomination of those chips , however, I am going to auction them off in an exlusive live auction.

The value of those chips are close to $50 each since they have been handled by numerous stars.

Posted Sun Feb 06, 2005 6:05 pm GMT by ott
I guess the value of the chip is only worth the amount someone else would pay for them NOT how much one thinks something is worth.

And thats the exact meaning of the word value.

Remember Diamonds are just rocks and chips are just pretty much mixed dirt, so why do you have to pay so much for em? Because if you don't, someone else will.

Posted Sun Feb 06, 2005 11:50 pm GMT by ott
In most instances that's true.

I can try to sell a brick for $1 million which I purchased at Home Depot for 45cents. If someone actually paid me the million I asked for the generic brick, does that mean the value of all the other bricks just like it also worth $1 million? The simple answer would be no.

I was in college when I was 16 and was in a 5 year program which I finished in 4 years. I didnt have time to work so I racked up huge debt to get school finished quick.

I am now retired as I accued enough passive income in those short years. I now do consulting and run my chip business on the side for fun. I play cards as a hobby too.

CHdzbutz, I use many sets in my game, usually to adhere to what games we play. I like to use the Vineyards during Tournaments where we have A LOT of people since I have the most of those chips.

For the Palmas Chips question, I bought half the lot of these chips from ASM when the Casino decided not to open. At the time when I bough them, I wasnt sure if they would be of much value. But of course I was wrong and should of purchased the entire lot if I new of the things to come.

I started playing poker when I was 14 in the backrooms of CA cardclubs. (all defunct by now!, now one is a strip club, and the other a salvation army) When I was 16 I would play in the legal card rooms, and when I got caught, they let everyone know I wasnt supposed to play so I was screwed. So I would go on my spare time and just stand there and watch for hours. (When I didnt have school. I would do my work in my 82 Oldsmobile in the parking lot and then go in and watch on my "breaks")

It depends on preference. The Vineyards are more of a modern looking Paulson. The Palmas have that classic look. I prefer the classic looking chips, but came damn close to getting a set of the Vineyards a while back. I wish I had because he still had $20 chips and now they're worth a fourtune!

So many nice chips, so little chip budget!

I never thought of this as an argument. I never took it as one either. I'm sure most people would agree with my statements. There was nothing faulty about my reasoning. And that's the end of what I'm going to say on the subject.

Strange. Because according to this thread:

it seems that less than 6 months ago, you bought 600 from Spinettis. FMINUS is your old screen name is it not?

It is, this is why I said "half the lot". After I did some research and contacted ASM about these.

As you can see in the thread, spinettis did not have the $5000 chip nor a lot of the other rare denominations which I was selling.

To reply to PathernsHutch:

Take accounting if possible instead of finance.
If you have an accounting Degree you can always change to finance dept.
But if you have a finance degree, you MUST do Finance.

Accounting generally takes a little longer and is a little harder but is worth it because of the flexiblity.

And also the salaries to the industries is something to look at.
The rage of salaries is higher for finance, but the mean salary for accountants over the long run is a little better. So you have to choose stablility factor over the millionaire factor.

Your schools should have intership programs availble to you. My suggestion is to start at a big company to gain experience since you will be subjected to how things are "supposed" to be done, they also tend to hire more newbies. Then move into a smaller company when you get your feet wet to gain some real experience. It is easier to get promoted in a smaller company. Then use this position to get a similar position in a Big5 firm. Paying you 4x more in salary. This should save you some time so you dont have to fight with all the people for promotions in the big companies.

Hope this helps, Good luck!
