That all depends on whether you know what you're talking about.
First of all there is no such thing as 'real clay' as no chip is made from pure clay. If you want casino grade chips compressed from a clay composition, there are only 4 companies, all in the US, who make such chips, GPI/Paul-Son in Las Vegas, TR King in Los Angeles, ASM in Maine, and Blue Chip in Las Vegas. Addtionally there is Chipco, also based in Maine, who makes ceramic chips for many of the casinos and cardrooms all over the US; and GPI/Bud Jones who is best know for their injection molded coin center chips, though they now make an injection molded chip with a brass slug covered by a label/decal. The most popular chips in most casinos would be Paul-Son, Chipco, and Bud Jones. These are normally priced in quantities of 100 and would start in the neighborhood of about $35/100 and can go in excess of $100/100 depending upon what you want on the chip. ASM has plain clay chips for $0.35 with a minimum order of 300 (hot stamping .15 extra). TRK will supply 10gr chips at $50-55/100, hot stamped, with a minimum order of 100.

Now if you're just looking for crap from China, then it's unlikely that any of those are what you would call a 'clay' chip, though given the quality control ethics of the Chinese, there's liable to be anything in the composition used in the manufacture of the chip including clay. If this is what you're referring to, then you probably just want something that doesn't have a magnetic slug in it, and you're not looking for the 'best deal' you're probably looking for the cheapest price. You can probably ascertain that by looking on e-Bay or shopping around at some of the sites that carry chips. The prices can vary, and the only way that you're going to know what is current is to confirm it yourself.

Get the NexGen chips. They are $.26/each at 5stardeal.com. It comes to like $110 for a set of 500 shipped. Then just buy some custom labels from Ebay. The NexGens have recessed centers for custom labels. Look at the other post here, one guy posted pics of his NexGens with labels. They were VERY nice looking. I just ordered my sample from 5stardeal. Should be here Thursday. Im about 95% that Im gonna order a set. Unless I absolutely hate them, of course.
