Help me decide between the two

Posted Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:54 am GMT by Nickmast
I have decided that I'm going to go with ceramic Chipco. I'm between these two designs, "Suits" which have no denom, and "Classics" which have a denom. Most of the games I play in are Home games. We usually divide chips like this"

15- $25
10- $50
10-$100
*the blinds starting at $25/$50 and doubling every 20-30 minutes.

My plan is to buy 25 chips here and 25 chips there till I have my set complete (thus keeping the huge pocket loss of money more bearable)

I love the looks of both of these chips but the denomiations of the "classics" may hinder my flexiblity?? Give me some suggestions and help me chose between the two.

EDIT: Anyone have any samples, that they can spare, of these chips??? 1 of each?? Dont feel like coughing up $30 just to get both the sample packs.

The suits look much better than the classics IMHO. If you don't need or desire denoms, I'd go with them.

i have the suits, id post pics but, everyone has seen them elsewhere.

like said above, if you dont desperately need denoms, definately go with the suits, the colors are so much more vibrant and the classics have virtually no edge spots.

i broke up my 600 chips like this

250-black spade
150- red diamond
100-green club
100-white heart

the great part is that you can assign any denom to any chip, depending on who youre playing with... i love these chips...

Get the classics... they have any denom you'd need! Sweet chips!

I definitely like the suits better even though I'm in the denom crowd.

Have you checked out the Egyptian's... cool. I think there's still time for a price break before they arrive... if interested, read the last few posts from MS Patton as there may be some quantity issues

Looks like the WSOP Chipcos may get off the ground, too.

If it were me, I would go with the classics, simply because of the denoms. I do like the looks of the suits better though.

I second that you should check out the egyptian chips like fins suggested...Those look great.

Definitely the suits. I don't really like the classics at all, kind of plain imo. I have 1000 suits. If you only plan to get one set, they will be the most flexible because you can adjust to any game since there's no denoms.

Were the "Suits" a one time production run only? you may want to find out since you'll be buying your chips a little at a time. It would be a shame to start buying "Suits" just to find out you can't get them anymore.

Nope. Holdempokerchips.com has them. They will always be available through that site.

Also, Yeltzen might still have some for sale. Check out this thread: http://www.texasholdem-poker.com/forum/t7289/chipco-suits-for-sale?postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

You might be able to get a better deal on them.

I vote suits also, classics are too plain and their edge spots suck.

I dont like the results. Four people have voted for the Classics and that just makes no sense. Wink

I prefer denominated chips for cash games (Classics) and plain chips for tournaments (Suites).

If I had to pick one though, it would definitely be the Suites. I have a sample of them at home and I use the chips as my card covers. Everyone always wants to take a look at them.

Well I ordered the sample for the "classics" last night. Anyone have a spare "suits" chip to send me so I can compare the two??? I would greatly appreciate it.
