Pokerchipreviews - Update 1/20/05

Posted Fri Jan 21, 2005 1:09 am GMT by pokerchipreviews
OK...so the site has been moved to a new server with 100 times the space as I had on the old server. Hurray.

I added reviews for The Ace Pokerchip Co's Palmas Club ASM chips (compression molded) and another, new, World Series of Poker (injection molded) coin-centered chip this evening.

This weekend, I'm going to completely re-do the site. The whole thing will be organized by CHIP and not by supplier/vendor. Also working on organising/sorting the chips my type and manufacturer. There is going to be a new 'Poker Products' review page, plus the long awaited/asked-for Custom Chip page. Oh yeah...I'll get the Matsui review up...it's going to be a big one.

Thanks guys and gals.

John

Paulsonchips, white courtesy phone, white courtesy phone for Paulsonchips.

He said recently in the pics thread that they're sold out.

Posted Fri Jan 21, 2005 3:20 pm GMT by ott
Sold out doesn't mean samples are still not available. I think sold out only means in quantity. I'm sure PC has a bunch for himself.

Posted Fri Jan 21, 2005 3:36 pm GMT by MeridianFC
I know he has a bunch of 'em, but the gist of pokerchipsreview is cheques that are for sale which, samples excepted, this does not seem to qualify as.

Posted Fri Jan 21, 2005 3:43 pm GMT by warewulf619
Yup, one more set I wish I would have bought when I had the chance. I doubt samples are available if he claims they're sold out.

I had thought about it as it's one of my favorite looking chips, but at $1/42 (the price from Omaha Matt on eBay) I might as well go custom.

The coin insert chip that will be coming from Excalibur as the WSOP chip appears to already be available from Trademark/5stardeal/pokerchipshopping.com as the 10-Coin Jackpot Casino chip. I had a chance to look at these chips last week and they are of pretty decent quality for an import, http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=10-Coin my only objection to them was that they were too thin (you can put 21-22 chips per stack into a rack.) Quite notable though, was that the coin inlay is not cast from a magnetic material and will not respond to a magnet.

Thanks for all your great work John!

True, the only difference is that the ones by Excalibur say WSOP 2005 on them and are limited edition collectors items...(they'll only be releasing and manufacturing a few at a time and as of now are only available at the WSOP events.)

Great job on the reviews John!

There's no way that Excalibur be only making "a few at a time". It's not worth their time or money if they mass produce them like the other stuff they sell.

I agree! That's a funny one. It's probably a 'limited edition' that is limited to as many as they can sell. There's no way that anything made in China can be 'limited'. They make a certain amount that goes out the the front door and then probably an equal or greater amount of clones/counterfeits and seconds that go out the back door. Don't know what he thinks Excalibur is, but they're an electronics and novelty importer, they're not going to import anything on a 'limited level' Maybe Cusa86 called someone at Excalibur and swallowed whatever line they made up on the spur of the moment?

I'll PM PaulsonChips...but HE is the one that Priority Mailed them to me last week.

Actually, from my conversations w/ Excalibur, what Cusa86 says is correct. Excalibur tells me that these chips will only be sold at WSOP tournaments through June. After that, they will be released for a 'short period of time' nationwide.

As far as them matching those on 5Star, I agree. I am actually waiting on a set of those from one of my regular suppliers. They should be put in the mail to me any day now.

Cheers,
John

The initial 3000 chips sold in 2 days. I am in the process of getting more chips from a collector! New ones should be up soon. But only a limited quantity.

I will also be releasing new Casino chips in SETS. Soon.

It's not like they can't sell those by the truckloads at WSOP tournaments. And from now till June and a 'short period of time' afterwards, sounds like they will be selling those for a good 6 months. Plenty of time to sell 100K chips.

Just read the review for the new paulsons and checked out the pictures. I have not touched them with my own hands but they definately look Lackluster.

HA HA HA...well...it was HER idea. I talked with Excalibur today to see if they would think it's in bad taste...but they loved it!! So...pokerchipreviews.com has a new team member!

And no...I've already been asked...she won't demo any pokerchips as pasties. Smile

Cheers,
John

John, I would NEVER suggest anything as tasteless as posing with chips as pasties. (But how about chest freckles, that would be good medical information. Please, please, please!)

Anyway, let us in on the secret, who's the babe? She's gorgeous, at least what we can see....

P.S. Your reworked site is looking fantastic. Thanks for all your hard work, though we know it's a labor of love (or of chip whoring, even better than bonus whoring).
