I'm going on a cruise in May. Was wondering how the casinos work on board and if chips are available? Do they play hold'em or just carribbean stud?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I just got off a cruise 2 weeks ago so I can help a little. I was on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas, and it was my fifth time cruising with Royal Caribbean.
I'm not sure what you mean by chips being available. They do use chips in the casino, the 1 dollar chip was a metal coin, and the game table chips were Chipco's (5, 10, 25, 100 were the denominations I believe).
No Hold-em, just slots, Caribbean Stud, Roulette, Craps (I think), 3-card poker, and Blackjack. That's all I believe.
Hope this helps, have a great time and good luck!

I played on Royal Carribean's Sovreign of the Seas Cruise a few years ago. I didn't notice any hold-em, just table games (BJ, Carribean Stud, etc) and slot machines.

Thanks for the info. At $5 a chip I won't bring too many home! Is Carribbean stud worth playing?

Caribbean Stud has a huge house advantage, worse yet when you play for the bonus. You are better off playing craps and blackjack (with optimal strategy of course).
Good luck!
