PokerChips.com order

Posted Sun Jan 23, 2005 4:34 pm GMT by chris ford
I ordered my chips from pokerchips.com about 2 months ago, and they should be hear sometime in early march. I was just wondering if the chips come in a cheap aluminum case, or in chip racks. If they come in a cheap case, I am really considering buying a new case. Anyone have any suggestions on a nice case to fit the nice chips that i am buying. Thanks for any suggestions.

Unless you ordered a case they come in boxes. A case is not normally included with pokerchips.com orders.

From what I can tell, they really gouge you on case prices at pokerchips.com. You are better off getting one elsewhere, unless they are willing to give you a deal when you order chips from them.

How long of a wait did they quote you when you orginally ordered? Did they give you the standard 10-12 weeks and then pushed it back or did they quote you something like 14+ weeks?

The Elite Cases have gotten good reviews. The link is for the 700 but they have 400 & 550 versions... maybe even 300??. This is the one I'll probably get (the 550 that is) if I decide to pull the trigger. I have an old photographers case that is pretty stout so I'm still considering modifying it to hold all 1000 chips in the racks. It'd still have plenty of room for decks, bank, buttons etc... The biggest concerns with the aluminum pizza box cases is the handle durabilty and the way it's fastened to the case. Also, some suggest that it's better to have two cases as opposed to one due to the weight vs the cheap manufacturing... the 700 case might be pushing it, for example.

I just bought the Elite 700 and have to say I''m very happy with it. I never had a different case so I can't really compare it to another brand but I'm going to buy another one today for a set I just finished collecting. (A big thanks to Ott for helping me find what I was looking for)

I just picked up a Aluminum Case at Home Depot this weekend that seems a pretty good deal (only $20). It is similar in design to most of the Aluminum Cases on the market but it will hold 1400 chips easily and 2100 chips tightly packed. For a 1000 chips you will have plenty of room left over for cards, dealer buttons, Texas Holdem for Dummies, etc. It comes in Black, Silver and Red.

Just go to www.homedepot.com and search for aluminum case. Depending on the number of chips, you may need to invest in some 1" Foam or other padding material so the chips don't fly around. I had some left over from a table I built and it works out perfectly. Also, I have 1400 13.5G chips in the case and its is HEAVY. I've also seen people use tool standard boxes to store their chips (in racks).

Make sure to post pictures of your chips when you get them.
