Hey guys I'm going to Vegas in a couple of months and wondering how much money do you think I'll need? I've never played hold'em in a casino so what should I start out playing? I'll be staying at the Tropicana. I don't know if they have hold'em or not so I got to look into that. So any advice you guys can give me would be great. Thanks.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

hey nails-what stakes are you playing? Run out to Canterbury for 2-4 hours before and play some to get the feel for a live game if you havent played in a casino before.
I would have at least $500-$1000. They do have cash machines out there....just avoid drunken high stakes blackjack....OUCH!

1. How confident are you in your game
2. Do you prefer no limit or limit
3. How big is your bankroll

Dave, I will try to get out to canterbury before I go, but heard that it's hard to get on a table on the weekends. How long are the waits? What stakes do they have out there? Logik I'm pretty confident in my game, but my game only consists of online poker and the occasional home game. And right know I plan to bring at least a grand to gamble with.

2/4 to 30/60. It isnt hard to get a table in the morning on weekends. It really isnt too bad at anytime right now-college kids are back to school. You can always call 1st and ask how long the wait is.

Dave. how much should I bring to play?

Personally I'm a very tight player and can get away with buying in for ten times the larger limit ($40 at 2/4, and usually about $70-80 at 3/6). Between one and two times the larger limit is a good idea.

Most people buy in at 2/4 between $40 and $100. Havent played much 3/6 or 4/8 but I buyin $200-300 when I play 6/12. HTH

any chance canterbury is going to put in some NL tables anytime soon?

Doubt it. NL tables dont earn as much rake. It is more one raise taking down the blinds and redeal. Unless people stop playing limit, I dont see adding NL, it just doesnt make sense.
