Overacting on Tilt is starting to turn me off |

When tilit first came out i thought it would be new favorite show, but the excessive overacting and non - stop cheesey lines are starting to turn me off. I'm not saying its a bad show, I just think it would be more appealing if they dint try to make every line in every week's episode like the last 10 minutes of rounders. Its ok to have drama... in my opinion tilit is just taking it a little too far... Less would be more.
Anyone else feel the same?

I agree with you, it is kinda cheezy. The worst parts to me are the 20 second dialogues before each player shows there hand in a showdown and the ridiculous background stories. IE, Miami has been playin HIGH stakes poker since she was 11??? What 11 year old is into poker, Doyle Brunson didn't start till 22! Even worse in I think the 2nd episode Eddie's Mom recalls him saying he'd buy her a house with his poker winnings one day, when he was 5!!! I'm sorry toddlers don't have aspirations to be pro poker players.

There's quite a few actually.
Ya know... I agree It's pretty cheezy. But It's still better than most of the other crap we have to choose from. The reason we are so criticle is because it involves a subject very near & dear to our hearts. I'm still gonna watch.

I disagree with that statement, rememer that his father was a poker pro as well. Most kids especially boys want to emulate their father and they don't know how risky poker is they just see the cash that daddy brings home.

Oh yeah, no doubt. Every episode so far has been a competition between the "actors" on who can deliver the better line. There was less actual poker in this weeks' episode than any of the first two. It's just becoming a cheating/crime drama more than a poker show. Maybe it never was a poker show, I dunno. I don't care, it sucks anyway and it will be gone after this season.

I thought Michael Masden (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105236/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnxzZz0xfHR0PW9ufHBuPTB8cT1yZXNlcnZvaXIgZG9nc3xteD0yMHxsbT0yMDB8aHRtbD0x;fc=1;ft=6) would make it tolerable, but it's kinda like a road accident. I don't want to watch, but it's strangely compelling...

Well, it's definitely a soap opera. Poker, and more specifically the cheating "Matador," puts all these people in the same place. I did expect more than the show is delivering.
As far as the line from the mother that her son said he would buy her a house. To me, that was put in there to show how unstable and weird she is. I guess that means she'll play some weird role in the future. Maybe not.
Why not make the girl 15 years old and playing high-stakes poker? Because 11 years old is even more dramatic. I also questioned it.
So, yeah, it's a soap opera. I am compelled to watch what happens next at this point, but I am disappointed about the lack of true poker scenes. And, if it doesn't get better soon, I'll be tuning out. I'd say it's got another two episodes to get better for me.

I think that's pretty well nails it.

At the rate they're eliminating characters, we may not make it that far.

They're not gonna get any better. Realistic poker scenes would, in no way, be interesting. Hell, I sometimes have trouble paying attention when I'm involved in the game.

You're right, of course. I'd just like to see at least "Rounders" quality. Some chatter that's less ham-handed. Of course, you don't have Damon, Malkovich and Norton, so, yeah, it's not gonna happen.

Maybe you're right, I'd guess that Doyle Brunson Jr. wasn't playing at 5 but maybe I'm wrong.

I was playing as a kid. Just with family and friends and stuff at first, but we played for money in HS once in a while...
