We had a pretty nice table that worked well for poker. Our 60" square dining room table. So i wanted a top to work with it. Some hardboard, headliner, and sage green suede and this is what i got, works great and looks nice too. And I can really take it anywhere.

and hopefully a piece of 'rug gripper' or that non-skid drawer liner underneath to prevent sliding and messing up that nice table.

White 150
Red 250
Blue 25
Green 225
Black 100
Purple 50
The tabletop doesn't fold, didn't want a crease in the middle. It's only 48" square and it is very light. It is 1/8th inch hardboard(pegboard without the holes) braced with 1x2's around. there is some added support in the center . In retrospect I would just go for a 1/2" sheet of plywood, I may tear it all up and do that before its all over, but i was trying to get it done before this weekend.
the reason for the 1/8" hard board originally is that the plywood was going to make the whole thing too heavy when added to the track and rails i was going to have, and 1/4" hardboard felt even heavier. I was also trying to complete this as cheap as possible. too bad I wasted the money on the wood for the track(I was trying to rush and couldn't get the 45's right) that is the scrap i have leftover now.
Could have done this for
1.5 yards suede - $15
1.5 yards headlineer - $15
1/2" sheet of particle/ply board - $12
Custom fit table top - $42
Spray adhesive and staples I already had
money wasted on unused stuff
Other wood $30
Other Fabric $15

funny you should say that. Before I did the padded top, we just rolled out one of those rug pads on the bare table and threw the fabric over it. REALLY cheap since i already had the rug pad and functional.
Now i have some leftover weather stripping stuck on the bottom for protection and luckily it is non slip.
