I'm going to Vegas in a little over a week for 8 glorious days of Poker. I plan to play mostly NL, probably $100 min buy in tables (I don't really know what the maximum buy in's for $100 tables are right now)
I plan on using my 3 buy in rule and I'm done with the table, so thats $300 I could potentially loose on a single table before I get up. I'm hoping that doesn't come into play, but I might have a run of bad cards or bad play at some point.
With that in mind how much would you suggest I take or have available? I'm thinking $2500 but some of that is going to go for food and whatever. (Room is not comming out of bankroll)

If you are planning on spending $300 at a NL table, you should consider buying in for the $300 to begin with.

I'm not even sure what to say to that...I already said I didn't know if the $100 NL tables allowed more than the $100 and really my question was overall how much bankroll do you think I need.
I'm looking for advise on how much to fund the trip with those thoughts in mind please.

It seems to me that bankroll should be based on what you can afford to play not what you want to play. The bankroll should be based on ...
1. How much I can afford.
2. How much I am willing to spend.
3. What is the maximum amount that I can come home without and still get out of bed sometime durring the first week back.
4. If there is a significant other involved cut rule 1 in half as she will want an equal amount to spend. (either now or in the near future)
Then choose the game that fits your bankroll not the other way around.

The only room I ever played No Limit in, in Vegas was the Sahara and in that room the buy in was $100 up to your whole roll. The blinds were only $1 & 2 and the game only got rolling after one of there tournaments, but it was a good game.
My experiance with Vegas card rooms was there was waaaay more Limit games than No Limit games but I have not been there since July of last year and I am mostly a tournament and low to mid limit limit player when in Vegas. I played $4 - 8 Limit at palace station every day on my last trip approximately 8 hours a day a won on the average of $250 a day with only one losing session in a 7 day trip.
Peace, HTF

Whenever I go to Vegas, I split my bankroll up into days. If I lose the alotted amount for the day, I'm done playing for the day.
The daily bankroll for me is usually in the $300-400 range. I only play limit (2/4-4/8, depending on casino) and blackjack, although I don't play much blackjack anymore.
In several trips to LV, I've only had to quit playing one time (for the day). Because I usually play 3/6 at Mirage or 4/8 at Mandalay or Bellagio, the daily buyin goes a long way.
I also set table limits. I'll buy in for $100 and if I lose that at a table, I either switch tables or we switch casinos.

When I go to Vegas for a few days (4-10) I set a loss limit of "X" amount of dollars per day to gamble. I started this when I started to learn to play craps. It has made my trips much more enjoyable and my bankroll last much longer and in most cases a profitable trip. It forces me to play smarter and not go on tilt and not over bet my bankroll. Everyone says it but I live it.... DON'T CHASE YOUR LOSSES!!!
If you're telling yourself, "I can go to Vegas and play some cards with this $2,500 and not miss it" then think of it like this.
8 days- food/bev. $30 conservatively saying that's $400.
So now you plan to play in some of the daily tourney's. They average about $50 for buyins and add-on's. Let's say you plan for 10 of these while your in town. That's $500.
OK that leaves $1400. 8 days divided by $1400. left over for cash games gives you a loss limit per day of $175. You can have definatley have fun on that.
Now this is on the conservative side. There's is nothing worse then going to Vegas and running out of money during a long trip, especially when you don't live within driving distance and this could be your only chance to go this year. And hopefully you're not going to lose every day every time at the tables.
Good luck!

To the last two posters, thanks a bunch for your posts. I just kind of thought up that strat for dealing with money managment, and with my little blow out yesterday online I'm more committed than ever to sticking with my daily limits.
I feel a lot more comfortable now with the amount I plan to bring, knowing my limits are in place will force me to play within myself I think, and also force me to make good decisions should I run into a bad hit early. I was a little concerned it might make me played scared, but honestly I will just have to get over that. Scared money in NL is very bad of course.
Worse comes to worse and I hit my limit for a couple of days I'll probably switch to limit for a day or two.
I think I'll find some more things to do in Vegas in case I run into my limit one day, that will make it eaiser to avoid going back to the tables due to boredom.

Jauron,
I don't know how "adventurous" you are but at the Gold Spike downtown they have $1 BJ tables and the drinks flow like the blood of a pricked alcoholic. If you buy-in for more than a $20 the pit boss will come over and ''check you out". This place has A LOT of character's but if you want to waste an afternoon(not evening!!) screwing around this an inexpensive choice and you will definatley have some stories to tell your buddies when you get home.
Another choice for some "cheap time wasting" is at the Casino Royal. Between 6am'ish and noon'ish they have a .25 roullette table. I can't sleep when I'm in Vegas and I have spent many mornings/late evenings playing this on a $20 for 4 to 6 hours. The drink service is unbelieveable! And I have actually doubled my buyin 5 or 6 times even though I suck at roullette. Buy the time I walk out of here I am always ready for some sleep and very drunk.
Just a couple of things that me and some of my buddies do to save the bankroll and stay in the Vegas mood. Granted these suggestions aren't "FLASHY" but you asked for some choices...

No, thank you very much for the suggestions. My friend and I plan to take at least one night off and just get hammered, if we can play $1 BJ while doing it, even better.
If you have anymore I'd love to hear them. I will be staying on the strip but I want to find my way downtown at least once.

I've gotta get downtown one of these times I go to LV. I've been there 6-8 times and have never left the Strip. I've never even been past Circus Circus (stayed there once, never again).
