I'm still talking with Matsui on all the details. Hoping to convince one of our favorite chip sellers to bring in some of these. Smile

Nice to see those Matsui chips finally getting some recognition!!! I absolutely love the decals.

Just a note about the "wheelchecks" section:

'Wheel Checks' are a lightweight, simple chip from Matsui. Along the lines of a roulette chip. Decent feel and good quality. Matt texture on all of the chips.
WEIGHT: 8.3 - 8.6 grams
FEEL: 7.5
QUALITY: 9
LOOKS: 6

I always thought those chips are different in feel and construction. The chips are called "Nylon 1 Color Hotstamp," "Decal Wheelcheck," and "Wheelcheck" from left to right. The Wheelcheck actually has a great feel and is almost on par with the Decal chips but the other two aren't so stellar.

I'm surprized you didn't review the Matsui clay chips. I find them to be very high quality compared to the likes of Blue Chips clays.

I received a price quote on the clay's from matsui, but not the plastic decal chips....
Matsui wrote:

But does anyone have an idea of what ballpark we are talking about for the decal chips?

John:

I think you're missing the KC Chips which show how the Matsui coins can be used to make a very good set. You already have the chips in hand, now you can make a judgement based on aesthetics.

First: theme. I think they do a nice job with 'mark,' 'rounder,' 'mechanic.'

Second: edge spots - by mixing up which molds they used they get a great looking set. The 1 and 100 are the same mold (with different colors0 and the 5 and the 500 are the same as each other (with different colors). The $25 is yet a 3rd mold for a varied spread of edge spots.

The link for their ebay store is: http://stores.ebay.com/KC-CHIPS_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm

Two of the chips use the same mold as holdempokerchips.com
http://www.holdempokerchips.com/products.asp?cat=16 on the Murphy set but I like the lines of the KC chips better.

I'm not a big fan of coin chips, but the KC ones seem to have the best overall looks of the ones I have seen.

Great info on the pricing there.

As far as KC chips go...the review up is from their chips. As I say in the review...fantastic looking chips...just way to hard of plastic used.

John

EDIT: Oh yeah...I didn't review any of their clay chips because they didn't send any my way. I'll ask again. And yes...movie coming next weekend.

Based on samples, I think the best "look" in the Matsui coin chips is from http://www.rounderscardclub.com/

The rim styles/colors are better (IMHO) than Murphy's or KCs.

The feel is just not there. They also don't sound as good as the BJ coin centered chip.
