I bought a deck of old double deck of Binion's KEM cards on ebay a while back and just started using them. I noticed that the Ace of Spades in one deck is warped. Is there any solution to fix this? When the ace is in the middle of the deck you can visibly see the warped card to identify its location in the deck.

you might try cleaning (washing) them according to Kem's recommendations.
I think that they warp a little when you clean them, and correct themselves upon drying. If you are lucky, that A of spades will "remember" its previous shape. (This might be a longshot, but it can't hurt)
If it was any other card (like 3 of clubs) it probably wouldn't be an issue.
Although I've never washed them before, I stumbled on this site that has the scoop (along with the "kem museum")
Note: I kinda new so I don't want to cause a beef. I'm in no way affiliated with this site, in fact I don't even know if or what they sell. So Geno and Fat Tony please don't "whack" me, it's just a link helpful for kem owners.

the little book in the kem museum (1960) is the most comprehensive care guide I've seen for kems, I never got a little booklet when I've bought them.

Thanks Toney. I've seen that website before, but I had forgotten about it. I'll try cleaning them w/ some warm water and see how it goes. I just got a deck of Copags and I have to say I'm very impressed. I don't see how they are second to KEM in any way...

Copags are good.
I haven't had trouble with those either, but haven't played too much with them.
I think its kind of similar to the clay vs. ceramic thing in chips.
They are different, have a different feel. Copags are a little more crisp. They can get a little stickier than kems. However I can't see a copag warping (and I haven't seen them crack.) I've seen them bend a little, because I don't think they have quite the "memory" as kems. But for the price, copags hit the spot and are a solid card.
Off the subject, but has anyone played with "del toro" cards before? I am interested in how these fare as well.
We will have to get a helpful site like john's
playingcardreviews lol!

toney, on the site in the 'torture' section, the water was spilled intentionally on a kem card. after a while, it was a bit warped, so i'm not sure if washing will cure the problem, most likely will do even more damage

I'd started a previous post on KEM warping. I had the whole deck warp on me after I unwrapped it. "Curl" might be a better description than "warp". I'd never even used them--just unwrapped them and let them sit for a few days after handling them a bit. At least they all curled the same so you can't tell what card is what. But they don't sail worth a flip.
I'd tried COPAGs and they didn't warp.
Preference is still Bee Club Specials. $2.68 at Wal mart and about $1.90 if you're eligible for PX privileges on a military base.

I just got another 2 decks of KEMs - Red Arrow Reg Index Bridge-size and "America's Cup '92" of the same size and index. The Red Arrows are flawless, beautiful to handle - but the ACups really seem "warped" somehow. I just opened these guys up, so is it a possibility that the ACups are old and they are just misshapen a bit? Specifically, it seems there are gaps in the deck when sitting flat due to some cards being slightly bent and rigid, not conforming back to flat. I guess from 1992 maybe it should have been expected, but not according to KEM! Let me know if anyone has a solution for this. Thanks.
