Calling a raise when you've alrdy called a bet preflop..

My question is how often will you call a raise after alrdy calling a bet?

Say you have something like QJo, you call the initial blind, its raised after you. doyou call?
does it depend on the number of callers? who raised? ect..
Im guessing its wise to fold hands like A10 and K10 preflop if raised after calling a bet.

thanks,

patrick

I don't see the flop with QJo not even in late position. I feel it's a losing proposition. However let's take the example of KQo. A much better hand to be seeing the flop in my opinion. It's a $2/$4 limit game and I call $2 now if there is a raise after me it is going to cost me 1 additional bet to see this flop. I do not call with any hand that i'm not willing to call a mininum bet with so yes I call the raise. Now if there is a reraise after the raise and it is 2 bets to me I fold.

You have to realize just what it is people raise with. AK, AQ, AJ, and even A10. I have seen raises with mid pocket pairs, and even KJs so just because it's a raise does not mean they have you beat preflop. Also if your holding KQ and the raiser has AQ and a king comes on the flop you are now ahead of the raiser, so bottom line is if it's good enuf to call one bet, it's good enuf for 2 and if it's not, then you never should have entered the pot in the first place.

thanks for the advice.
so im curious now if you'll play A10 and K10. or will you play only if suited and in late position?

I will play QJ 100% of the time if it isnt raised before me. If it is just one bet to call, I will call 100% of the time.

QJ vs KQ, KQ is better, but not that much better. More str8 possiblities w/ QJ and the lower your go, the more chances your top pair wont be outkicked against a preflop raise.

Also consider position, if you are both in late position w/ no limpers, he may be looking to push the blinds off the pot and isolate you-even if he is relatively weak.

I won't get into semantics of when you should and shouldn't play AT, QJ, etc...

But I will say: Very, very rarely, is it correct to call one bet, and fold for one more preflop.
