KEMs at 5stardeal

Posted Tue Feb 01, 2005 12:27 pm GMT by PanthersHUTCH15
I just received a double deck of KEMS from 5stardeal and one of the decks is terrible. I have never had a problem with KEMs before, I own a few sets of Arrows so I know what to expect. The cards I ordered were these:

Green/Brown Kem Club Casino Cards - Bridge Size
Product Code: 10-46CLUB

The green deck is fantastic, but the brown deck has some issues. They feel very flimsy, have an upward bend, and half of the cards have black scuffs all over the numbered side, which won't come off. The corners of the brown deck are all clipped, which is usually what is done when the cards have been used by a casino if I am not mistaken.

I only have trouble with the brown deck because they are already in such bad shape. I have e-mailed 5stardeal.com to see what they can do about this.

Has anyone ordered these and had a problem??

Yes.. Same problem - green decks are warped in both sets I ordered. (no clips or scuffs)

Have not had a reply from 5* yet

(Note: very happy with ALL other items I have recieved from them in the past)

yeah, I ordered some kems from an ebay retailer and was really disappointed in the two decks I got. There were a different pattern (Kent) and many of the cards had scuffs, two have slices into the edges and I would consider them flimsy. This was the first kems I've had so I don’t have anything to compare them to. I was disappointed to say the lease though. I've had suspicions that they were nock offs but the seller said this happens about one in every 100 decks and offered to replace the damaged cards.

Just called Customer Service at 5*... They stated no complaints in system related to the KEM's, however they requested that I ship them back and will replace with an inspected set.

Had similar problems off a double deck casino club cards from ebay. Emailed the seller and he shipped another deck out. He sent the wrong color but it had no problems so I was ok with it.

get some blue/red club's from "pokerchips.com"

These are the real deal

The shipping is ridiculous but I love these cards. These are the same things used in the Bellagio and other card clubs (Bellagio actually used brown/green) but you get the idea.

I'll have to keep that in mind Toney.

I received a response from 5star and they told me to send the brown deck back and they would send out a new brown deck.

What year were all of these cards made?? Maybe they had a terrible year and every card made around that time is totally screwed. I agree with the person on the other thread who believes that they are getting rid of all of the crap cards that others have already sent back because I have never had a problem with KEM cards, and my good experience with Copag that i mentioned in another thread is starting to sway my preference for the time being.

By the way, my bad cards were made in March of 1997. For those who don't know how to tell, on the lower left portion of the ace of spades there are 3 small numbers. Mine says "397" so it is March 1997 (month number-last 2 digits of year).

anyone know when USPC is going to start selling Kems to the public again? i know nicetoys sold them but have since sold out. anyone know where i can pick up a set for $20?

o and another thing i noticed on USPC website. they have a new brand called Casino Diamond. if you notice very closely (which is something i do) you will see that these are the same cards that are used in the show Tilt. would love to have a set of these too, and im sure we will be seeing them all over in the coming months at the casinos. i think USPC wants to phase out Kems and replace them with their own brand, allbeit using the same quality as Kem of course since they own the machines now.

Just curious, ship them back at whose expense?

This may be hijacking a thread, but I've noticed that Julie has been unfairly attacked on occasion and accused of spamming just for referencing her web site/business (not promoting her products, just referencing a picture, link, or something along those lines). Imagine my surprise when I came across very good and competitive pricing for Copag cards today on eBay today (with very reasonable shipping) just to realize that it was Juliea344. The first thought was that it was such a shame that she could not feel welcomed enough here to make this offer to participants of this or other forums that she participates in. Anyway, I just thought someone should make mention of it as I've never felt that she has abused her privilege in the past though I do feel she has been unduly accused on more than one occasion.

I am 3000 miles away from Julie, don't know her (other than from her postings), and have no affiliation with her nor her site/business, and have never even been to Niagara Falls.

How about those Kems?

Juliea- To send them back was at my cost ($1.70). I did this last Thursday and received a new brown deck today. They are perfect, like the green one's I originally received.

Thinking back to when I received them, they weren't even sealed like a brand new deck, the seal was very thin and were probably re-sealed after someone already sent them back.
