I have only bought two decks of kem's, but both decks had issues. This is probably the 5th or 6th time I have heard something negative; I'm pretty much done with kem at this point. If I can find some older decks I'll be all over them, if it’s a reasonable price, but obviously the quality control is out the window and the new production facility.

Novikan,

Unless someone knows something that I don't,

I think you are SOL on the Kem help hotline. There is no more kem, they were purchased by the US playing card co, and I haven't heard yet if the USPC co will be honoring any Kem warranties. My guess would be probably not, new company, new problems.

I think that if you have any problems with your cards, your best bet is to contact the person who sold them to you, and maybe they can help make things right by either returning your $ or sending you new deck/cards or whatever. I'm sure it will be the first or last grievience that your kem seller has heard.

As far as the problems with Kem's:

I agree that they do have problems, and that they are showing up now. However, in defense of what I feel is the best cards ever made (I own over 20 sets and yes have had my share of problems too, but still love to play with a good set):

1.) I think that we are now seeing the "tail end" of the Kem's out there. We are seeing the cards that were rejected by casinos and then repackaged, we are seeing the cards that have probably been stored in non-climate controlled warehouses for years and are just currently being sold because of the demand. We are probably seeing cards that were manufactured during the time when Kem employees were told that they would be without jobs very soon (imagine the quality control at that point when nobody gives a crap and their machines and tools and stuff are being shipped out, and jobs are being lost) We are basically seeing the last crumbs at the bottom of the cookie jar. We are seeing the last (or no more) of the good styles and have been resorted to golf, dog, and "arabesque" cards.

2.) Like others have said, we can only hope the cards and the QC at the USPC will be up to par in the future, and problems like the ones we have been having will be minimized greatly and dealt with swiftly.

it looks like USPC is starting thier own plastic playing card brand. maybe they will ditch Kem altogether? i hope not. but as long as the quality is the same then it wont really make a difference.

btw, these are the cards that are used in Tilt.
