flop low trips turn gives other player the boat

.10/.25 cash game on Pokerstars

I'm on cutoff seat with 4 Heart 6 Heart
One limper, I call to see if I can get lucky on the flop. The button raises to $1. One caller before me. I call as well.

Flop comes: 4 Spade 5 Heart 4 Club

I've flopped three 4's. I check to the raiser to get some action. He bets out $2. I know he either missed this flop completely with something like AK or AQ or that he has an overpair so I'm pretty safe. I reraise him to $4. He thinks about it for a while and then calls. I think overpair. The turn comes T Heart. This gives me a flush draw in addition to my trips. I bet out $3. He reraises me $6. I think I made a mistake here, but I moved all-in with the rest of my $12. Rag comes on the river.

He had T Club T Spade

Did I raise enough the flop? I mean, I want action when I'm a 90% favourite. Should I have suspected he hit his boat when he took the aggression on the turn?

I think it would have been tough to get him out there anyway on that flop.

Just because he showed agression on the turn doesn't mean he has a boat, A 10 probably plays back at you too. Moving all in doesn't give you any room for error though.

Once he called you knew you were beat, it happens man.

Ya, I think you were destined to lose that when you called the 4x BB raise...

There was a post about a similar hand a week or so ago, and someone posted this little rule of thumb:

TREAT THIS HAND LIKE YOU WOULD TOP PAIR

There is an enormous difference between three of a kind with two of your cards in the middle of the table and having your pocket pair turn into a set on the flop.

Actually, I lead this flop. Seeing that you're out of position and playing against somebody who came out strong. This ragged flop might be a great place to play strong to get a button re-raise. Then pushing in on the turn or right there on the flop. I'm thinking this is good w/medium sized stacks ~70 BBs

Maybe w/deep stacks (~120+ BB), I'm check/calling the flop and then looking to check/raise the turn.

But to give contradictory advice, I believe flopping trips is best played as top pair. But since you're out of position and you've got a great hand on the turn, (if he doesn't have tens), bet around 2/3 pot here. you really need to bet big here. To see if he has the balls to semi-bluff big w/a flush draw or come over the top with a filled boat. You can generally narrow down the hands to those two after that. Then it's a judgement call. But the turn bet is small relative to the pot, and his re-raise doesn't narrow down villain's holdings.

Once you check raised the flop, your hand has neon signs on it. And the villain gets away easy on the turn if he doesn't catch his miracle out. The betting in this hand is so weird. . . the turn reraise for the minimum? Reading the hand history, I'm genuinely confused.

here's my synopsis: check-raising on the flop gives away the strength of
your hand. Try to avoid it.

That exact scenario happened to me today, and I lost a $2500 pot.

Luckily, I made Q full previously to a flush AND and under boat which payed me off nicely, tripling me up.

It's the hardest play in poker, flopping trips with two on the board. Nearly impossible to lay down, especially with top kicker. If they fill up I pay them nearly 100% of the time.
