I posted this in another thread and realized its probably wont get read by too many people. So I am posting it again under a more appropriate title..
My question is what do you all think about all these kems and copags that are being sold on ebay in virtually the same packaging. I bought a pack of kems and they’ve basically fallen apart in about a week. I was thinking about buying some copags but I'm very suspicious as to weather these cards (kem and copag) are authentic. I have decided to buy some from pc.com simply because they are reputable but still, I am nervous... Also I saw a pack of kems in the brown box on ebay labeled "California club". The seller noted that these were different than Club Casino in that the California club is a vinyl card, where as the other is the standard cellulose acetate. Then I read on few sites that kem never produced a vinyl card, yet why would the guy point out something like that if they were knock offs; as well as the fact that they appear to be factory sealed. Any thoughts?

Ebay: Just try to buy from a reputable dealer. I won't venture my opinion on who reputable dealers are for various reasons but large amounts and percentages of positive feedback is good as is reading the feedback.
Kems v. Copags: After trying both I like Copags better. They seem to hold up better. And there's just something weird about Kems to me. They seem to take and hold more of that poker game funk.
Fake cards: I've never heard of a confirmed case. I've heard of people having various kinds of trouble with Kems. My theory is apparently they're a little touchy about how they're stored, and the market right now seems to be almost entirely NOS (new old stock) due to QC problems at the new plant or w/e, so you may be getting cards that spent 10 years or more in a non-climate-controlled warehouse and got ruined. If you have a deck of Kems that got messed up in a week of reasonable use I'd ask for a refund or replacement, that's definitely unacceptable. If there were fake cards on the market I wouldn't expect Copags to be affected since they are commonly available and have a consistently lower price.
Cal. Club Vinyl Kems: I've noticed that too. They are also sold other places. I am assuming they are legit, dunno if they're any good. Anyone got 'em?

Eli,
It's simply a matter of opinion which cards people prefer. I've got several decks of both and my favorites are KEM bridge-size (Red Arrows.) I think they have a better feel and quality over the Copags, although the C's are still very nice cards.
There is no question that there are people on eBay trying to rip others off by putting up scams. If you decide to buy via eBay, make sure that the seller has a lot of + feedback, ask questions during the auction to ensure the item is what it's supposed to be, request pictures if necessary, and remember you have 90 days to leave feedback.
Also, check Iron Butt's post in this forum "Cheapest Kems I've ever seen" I think is the name. There's a yahoo store that sells KEM/Copags and usually runs a promotion for free shipping or 2 decks with a case, etc. Hope this helps.

I've had a great experience with Cards By Copag. They have an eBay store also, but I think it's Cards by Kem or something like that? If someone wants that, I'll look for the name. I like the Kems (Brown/Green California Club, I also like the Copags as well. Both are strong choices and can be had for good prices. Cards by Copag, usually charges $0.01 shipping for Copags on the eBay site.

I was not refering Nice Toys as a place to buy cards.
Just a reference that can shed some light on the vinyl cards.
I have found them very helpful in the past

As I've posted before: I've had my ups and downs with Kem.
I have a super index, wide size arrow set that I love (although these are not available from Kardwell any longer), and the blue/red clubs from PC.com. I've used the clubs for four hard long games and haven't had any issues. They are expensive and shipping is ridiculous, but if they last, then it is worth it for me (coincidentally, both sets that I love were the most expensive, go figure). I think everyone looking for kems, or good cards should either get them from a reputable seller, or find an alternative or wait untill the new ones become available.

Well, got a new pack of copag's today. My initial thought is simply, wow. Sooooo much nicer than the kems I've bought. In every way too, price, color, design, feel... its all there. I think it was DerryABU who first said to go to cardsbycopag.com. Thanks so much.

I just broke down and ordered the Paisley Kem's from NiceToys. I had to get a deck for myself and see what all he fuss is about. I suspect that there won't be much difference between these and my Copags, but I will soon see.
