I noticed that NJs now makes custom chips. Just out of curiousity, do you have to use one of the 8 color combos they manufacture, or do they allow you to create your own color combinations? I own a set of the NJ Skulls, and I would kill for a set of grey $0.25 chips like they use for the DS. I have no idea why they used pink for the Skulls.
I would never purchase any custom chips since I don't think they offer custom Skull chips and I wouldn't order 500 more (the minimum), I was just curious about the whole thing.

From what i read, which was some time ago, it was the desert sands design with custom text in the center.

I dont think you can get a new color. The options were all based on the Desert Sands chip. You can use your own logo on either the normal inlay or an inlay that is a bit larger. About a full 1 inch.
Ive noticed the Skulls and Sands have actually dropped to $300 a set (including shipping). Can you compare your Skulls to chipco's or any other quality chip? Any durability issues? At .60 a chip shipped, this seems like a darn good deal.

Based on the samples I have, I think you can positively compare the Desert Sands / NJ Skulls / Mardi Gras chips to real Chipcos.
The finish is different ("rougher" is the word I use, though they stack well because of it).
The colors/image quality is almost as good, though not quite as sharp as Chipcos (because of the finish it's printed on).
With the cost down to $.60-$.66 in sets of 500 & 300, they are a better value than Chipcos. To me, they would feel and play just as well as Chipcos.
I'm a clay man myself, though the ceramic graphics look damn good!
