'New Sonny's Casino' Chips....are they genuine Paulsons? |

Greetings,
Does anybody know anything about these chips? I noticed in the pictures that one or two of the Top Hat and Cane's in the mold looks backwards....meaning the handle of the cane is on the top left as opposed to the standard top right. Also, the TH&C doesn't look as defined as others I have seen. Are these made from a knock-off mold or are they the real deal? Seems like a pretty good price for the set if they are true Paulsons.

I would have to say they are real although I agree they do not look like real great chips. The direction of the top hat and cane are not always symetrical. I have seen real Paulson where the TH&C were upside down. I have also seen the TH&C where every other one was facing each other. It seems like a good price but the chip amounts are low so unless you only have a few people play in your game you will run out of chips very quickly with that set.

These are interesting... They definitely don't look quite right though. The molding is shallow, two canes are flip flopped and the edge spots just don't have the typical character...

I have now seen four or five of these sets sold on ebay. I have talked to the guy a couple of times about them. They are real but are probably the most ugly chips i have ever seen. There are various molds Paulson uses, and this is just one of them, not too deep, not too large. The guy has said he has been trying to get $25's for some time, but he is still optomistic.
If you can live with the inlay, colours and edge spots...go for it. It's a great deal!

It looks like the same mold as the vineyards

I agree. Only 50 $5's?? I'm not crazy about the inlay or colors either. At .87 cents / chip (will probably go up), I think you could do better than this.
Paulsons are nice chips, but unless I can get the mix I want, decent inlay and colors, etc, I will stick with TR King and Chipco for now. In order for me to pay more than $1 / chip, it would have to be something spectacular.

The mold is RHC (Reverse Hat & Cane). Every fourth is reversed. This is the standard mold used by Paulson (GPI) since '93.

Thanks for all the info everybody. I agree that they are not the best looking Paulson's you'll ever see and the denom counts are low and strange. I am not going to bid on them but now I have some good reference material for the future :D
