If you had your own custom CLAY chip set...

Here are examples of what I mean. Keep in mind, you're not voting for these actual chips, but the "style" of them versus each other.

The classic types (choice #1 above):

And the "fancier" ones (2nd choice above):

I voted for simple because I think it has more of a timeless quality.

A classic chip with a scalloped inlay is AWESOME!!

Everyone, feel free to post images of either classic or fancy inlays to show your point. I'd like to see what you think. Remember, only standard inlay size on real clay chips need apply. No grand inalys... (may as well use Chipco for full face graphics).

For example, I am very fond of these "Le Cove" chips, and also the "Condodo Beach" chips.

I vote for both. Something simple and elegant like this appeals to me.

Anything with a non-circular inlay (scalloped, geared, etc.) scores big with me.

However, chips with cool images could make for interesting conversation pieces during games.

With either style, the chip has to have a certain something. Most designs out there aren't that great IMO. Often the difference between really great and just so-so chips are very subtle (the old and "NEW" vineyards for example).

I disagree. A lot of the nice looking clays with photo-like graphics have large inlays. And who would pick a chipco over a clay if the clay looked as nice? These are nice also, if you want smaller inlays.

Good idea about suggesting posting images. This board needs more eye candy (although all of arguments are entertaining as well:).

I would love to have a complete set of LeCove Chips. I really like the simple but colorful design chip set. I would use the 1 5 10 20 for cash games and the 25 100 500 1000 for tourneys. If I ever find someone

I wonder if I should have said "no giant inlays?" What I meant is not inlays that go almost to the edges fo the chip, making it a full face graphic. The "bigger than standard" inlay is ok with me.

Can someone post the three inlay names and corresponding sizes? (on Paulson H&C chips that is).

Here's a link to quite a few nice simple chips..

Not all of these are stricktly black and white but I would consider them all pretty simple and "Timeless" as i mentioned before.

on a standard 39mm chip what you are looking for is either the "Standard" (what you would see on a ASM chip) or the "Grand" (what you see on say the bluechip james bond) inlay. The "Giant" is the one that goes almost to the edge.

My thoughts exactly. I bought 75 of those $5 chips for cash games, on their way right now. I have 40 of the $25:

These will be a cash game set. I have 100 .25 cent binions hot stamped chips. I'm actually looking for a $1 chip that would fit well with this combo. All the same style, TH&C chips.

Preferrably a $1 in circulation at a casino.

You bought them on ebay, I suppose?

Must be a heck of a nice set. Post some pics:)

Yup. Paid mixed prices for them but bought in small chunks.

This is the .25 cent chip:

It was exactly what I was looking for. Hot stamped cheap looking TH&C. No spots.

They have some on E-bay right now for about 3 dollars a chip.

Great, thanks tomb.

What this discussion centers around is the GRAND inlay. This is what my poll should be considering.

I vote classic. I prefer the cleaner lines, less busy, iconic look of many of the pre mega inlay, photo insert chips.

I really want a set of clays with good inlays but without denominations on them. Something that has the simplicity of "The Suits", but is clay.
