I have several $1 chips from various casinos but most of them are filthy. I've read that people have cleaned their chips with a product called Quick'n'brite. I looked for this cleaner at Walmart, Target, Jewel/Osco, and Walgreens with no luck. Does anyone know where I can buy some locally?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I use this stuff to clean white tennis shoes when the leather gets dirty.

Thanks Nickmast. I was hoping to be able to find some locally because I don't really need the whole kit, just the paste. If I can't find it locally, I'll most likely go this route though.

I've used OxiClean mixed w/ warm water to clean all my casino chips. Don't know if that's 'officially' a good thing or not (might make some chip collectors cringe)...but it works GREAT.
Warm cup of water+about a teaspoon of Oxiclean. Stir.
Soak the chip(s) for about 2-3 minutes.
Scrub w/ an old toothbrush.
Rinse the chip(s) w/ cold, clean water.
Cheers,
John

I've also looked for quick'n'brite with no luck. I'm just using some counter top cleaner that cuts grease (can't remember which one), I've used several different brands and they all work about the same. I use the same technique as pokerchippreviews, and it does work great. There is some moisture transfer, after cleaning I use J&J baby oil gel to restore the chip. I let the chip sit overnight and then wipe off any excess oil. If I could figure out how to post pictures I would. The difference is amazing. I'm cleaning/restoring a set of Discovery Cruise (h/c) chips now and I've done the same with some of my Vineyards in the past. Chip collectors say not to clean the chips as it effects their value, but these chips are going to be used in tournaments, I'm sure that effects their value as well!

I will try to post before and after pictures tonight as I still have plenty of chips which need to be cleaned/restored to use as before shots. There is a huge difference.

Did you try a little mild dishwashing detergent from the sink in the kitchen? No kidding, sometimes people on forums get fixated on a single brand name item and overlook everything else (the name Paulson comes to mind sometimes )
You might also want to take a look at http://www.ccgtcc.com/cleaning.html for some helpful tips on cleaning chips. But chips do get dirty, in a casino it'sreal quick, sometimes within a couple of weeks of coming out of the box.

Thanks for the ideas guys.
Pocket Rockets: That was the site that made me want to try Quick'n'brite. I thought the paste would be the best way to go to eliminate any moisture issues.

Here are the pics from djriley. You can definitely see the difference between the dirty and cleaned chips. Very nice!

I don't have any before pictures of the Vineyards, but the $1 chip was as bad as the $5 Discovery Cruise chips. It takes some work but the chips clean up nice.
