i was playing in a no limit tourney this weekend and doing quite well. i was playing tight all night long. anyway my tight play enabled me to make the final table but reduced my chip count after awhile and i needed to get a hand. so what comes my way? rockets (AhAc), i'm pumped. figuring i've played tight all night i bet semi-large, he*the chip leader* raises, so i call.

FLOP: 2d 6s Ad

i bet and he raises. i reraise all in, he calls. WHAT? we flip the cards to see his 3c 5h....NO....THIS CAN'T BE

Turn: 4h
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

river comes Jc

ok, maybe i should have gone all in before the flop, or reraised again before the flop, but who in their right mind takes a three five offsuited all that way?

this was by far the worst beat i've ever had....it still hurts thinking about it. needless to say i was far from pleased leaving the table.

well going all in your raise probably wouldve gotten alot of respect and people would have just folded you deffinatly should have come over the top there and gone all in if he calls that its just a bad call the last thing you want to do when you get pocket aces is let people see a flop granted thats a bad beat and a pretty bad call for only an inside straight draw. the biggest reason you lost this tourney though was because of your tight play at the final table rarely will a tight player who dosent have a massive stack win a final table if they play tight because the antes and blinds will just eat them up.

Well, to begin that probably isn't the worst beat ever so chill out...you have to get used to it, it will surely happen again. A worse beat would be you hold AA and flop a set just for some guy to go runner-runner on your butt to make quads. Of course I've never seen this but that is a horrible beat of course. Just put it this way, you outplayed him. He made a bad call and YOU are the better player. If you were to play against him everyday for the rest of your life you would beat him if he continually make horrible calls like that against you. Doesn't that give you satisfaction knowing YOU are the better player? I'm sorry you lost but to GET outdrawn you must put your money in with the better hand. The other guy's a joke, simple as that. Chip leader or not, you were playing solid all night he should have adjusted.

Sounds like he had a huge chip lead and wanted you to go all in so he could try to outdraw you and eliminate you. Only thing I can think of is to go all in before the flop to shut him out.
