League Strategy, help me!!!! |

I have never joined a poker league before and don't know what my goals should be. Here is the layout of the league:
The league is separated into about 25 different bars. Each site will have 10 weekly tournaments. The top 20% from each site is then entered into a main event with the grand prize being a free seat at the WSOP and 1k in traveling expenses (the cool part is it was free to join the league). There are nightly prizes as well (first night was a set of 300 clay chips).
You get 1500 in chips to start with 25/50 starting blinds and they go up every 20 minutes. The site I am at has 80 people so I need to be in the top 16 after the 10 weeks are done. They use a point system for how you finish each night with the top 33% getting points: 1st getting 386, 2nd 273...24th getting 79.
I finished 14th in the first week (short stacked most of the night) but want an idea of how many time I need to finish in the points to try and keep a seat in the main event. Assuming I am not short stacked, should I try to be aggressive after I am in the points and go for winning that night or sit back and let others make mistakes and fall before me and just inch up the board.
Any help/advice will be useful since I am not use to this format.

Personally, I like to try and play aggressive in the beggining and try to get players that aren't as good in rounds w/ me. Try to build a stack and then just sit back. The more chips you have the tighter you should play (in league play). Make sure that you make it to that final table that last week. If you pull off a win one week, great, but dont make it your goal. Atleast that's how'd I would play it but most people on this site are better than me.
