That's why you raise AQ preflop.

Board 3 flushes on the turn, and I have top pair-- consider it folded.

Point Taken. How much in a NL ring game? Is 4x the big blind sufficient or should it be 4x the big bet?

Depends... with AQ, it's easy to overplay your hand. If someone raises in front, consider folding, or calling.

AQ is not one of my best hands. I usually go 4xBB and give up if I miss because there's no way to get 3 people out of a pot.

Yes a pre flop raise with A Q is normally in order. Anyone with 9 5 suited should be folding to any raise and so should never see their flush.

Why didn't you raise on the flop?

Thats probably a better question than why not raise prelfop. I mean the SB is a nasty spot to pick up AQ, although I probably raise there anyway. On the flop you have to come out swinging, since you didn't it's an easy fold on the turn IMHO.

I agree. The question was "was I wrong to keep calling". As soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought "probably, yes". Having read the hand, it is clear that you should have bet out or raised on the flop. You had top pair with the top kicker but there were two suited cards on the board. you HAVE to protect that hand at that point, you absolutely cannot be passive in that spot.
