preflop, and pair is a favorite over a pair of over cards. That doesnt mean they will always win. 22 is a favorite of AK, but it is something like 50.1-49.9, Very slim margin. most people would rather have AK over 22 though.

That's because your test hand is suited connectors, you have to fator in the flush/straight/straightflush draws with a hand like that.
55 would have a much easier time against something like K8os particularly if all 4 cards were from same suits.
(when i say much easier i mean by a few % but enough to make it the favourite.)

they have that many more outs yes.
the cards you picked would actually have more outs than say AKs which has a down draw to a straight but no up draw. so having 9Ts would be more of a favourite over a small pair than AKs

OK, I was just making sure.
I had always thought that a pair was favored, but its good to know it isn't.
