Last night me and six other guys played a touney style game and it worked out great,we all stared with 2500$ in chips
20-25$
15-100$
1-500$
we started blinds at 25-50 then doubled them every 30 minutes,game lasted about 4 hours.This system works great and would reccomend it to anyone having a home game.

This is also the system I use, and always recommend to people who ask about structures. I dont use the 1 500 chip though, I start everyone with 20 25 and 20 100, which is still 2500 chips. I then color up 25 chips later in the game. I have never had a problem or any complaints about this structure.

I agree with both of you...I started using 25s as my lowest denom and things were just much smoother, wrt the gameplay and chipping up...I usually have 6 people and we seem to enjoy a 4:30 hour game, maybe a bit longer than what some like, but I use the same blind structure but give 5K each...20,20,5 (25,100,500)...so I guess that explains the longer time, but I also move to a 20 min schedule as soon as there are only 2 players left...

i start with $25/$50 too. it is a lot easier to color up than starting with stacks and stacks of $5 chips.
i usually start everyone with $3500 - $5000 and have 30 minute rounds for the first 2.5 hours then move to 20 minute rounds after that. we usually end up running about 4 hours with up to 12 people.

I may have to try one of these long tourneys with rebuys and add-ons, but I would rather have many "quick" (1 - 2 hrs) games than one long game on poker night.
