New to the game of poker. Been playing Texas holdem. I've played in 4 games now and have finished 2nd three times and 5th once.
This past Saturday I was in a 17 person tourney. Two tables. I control the table early on by taking down two big pots and have the chip lead. Fast forward.
Down to four and I'm short stacked. With calling the blinds and then going all in I have worked my way up to third. Fast forward its heads up and our stacks are very close. I have a slight chip lead.
Dealt pocket 10's. In the SB, I call the 4,000 and raise another 8,000. Big blind thinks for a minute and calls.
Flop comes 9h 6h 2s. No over card so I think, "well I think I can steal this pot" so I go all in for an addictional 40,000 or so. I get called. Flip over the cards I am up against a Kh 5h. I'm feeling okay with the guy'ss flush draw. Turn is another 10! I have a set and taken away two of this guy's outs.
River brings my doom with the jack of hearts. Which crippled my stack and I busted out going all in with a pair of 5's against his pair of 6's.
I suppose I should have just raised in small increments to guage what he had but at the time I thought I was the best hand and acted to quickly.
But I still had a good time. My friend who hosts this game has put up a pretty sweet website. Where he chronicles our monthly games with summaries, photo's, etc. If anybody's wants to check it out (hopefully this isn't spam or something) the url is www.jonnyrockets.net

Quick sidenote: you should not have bet in small incriments. All-in on the flop was the way to go. Don't be afaird to push because of your oppoent's draw.
And sorry, this doesn't really qualify as a bad beat.
