My and my freinds were playing a home game. It was down to the final 2 and me and this other kid were pretty evenly stacked. The way we play we ante if there are only two people left. The ante was 20 and we each had about 200 in chips.
I was dealt AJ and bet 40 he raises 40. Now i knew he had a good hand because he rarely played a hand.
Flop was 8 5 J no flush draw i bet 40 he goes all in. Now i thought i was beat but called any way and he turns over QQ. Should I have called in this sitatuion.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Do you come with a fold button? Aj is not that great of a hand. Infact unless you have great potion is a shit hand. espicly to a reraise. I would have dropped it there. And If all this stuff was telling you your beat theres no doubt in my mind this was a bad play. I would have made the laydown but somebody whos just starting out might not have this is how the good players make there money catching people with hands like that. Im not saying it was the wrong play. But it was the wrong play against that certain person against a loose agressive i would have done that.

I really like that use of the bold attribute to make a point!

Yeah, that's a hard laydown. Sure, AJ isn't a great hand, but heads-up, it's pretty good, and you had top pair with an ace kicker. Still, you knew the guy was tight, and you suspected you were beat. Also, you didn't have a chip lead at this point...if you call and lose, you're out. Always go with your gut on these things...if you think you're beat, fold.

Can you think of any hands your supposed tight opponent would've played like that which you were ahead of?
