New Paulson James Bond Questions

Posted Sat Mar 05, 2005 3:28 am GMT by shn750
I just received my samples of the new Paulson James Bond chips. These are very nice with awesome edge spots and bright colors. Has anyone noticed that these chips could be a little more durable. If you rub the chips together or shuffle them a lot, the clay colors tend to rub off onto each other.

Also the inlay is covered with some clear "tape" like covering that extends to the edge of the border right before the "Paulson Chips" mold.

Is this normal? Also, they are definitely lighter than the TR Kings. Overall, a very nice set though.

what are you talking about, what tape like substance. I have a set of 300 and fail to see what you are trying to say.

where did you get your samples

I think you are mistaken about the "tape" thing. It just looks like that because they did such a good job of having the inlay be flush with the clay.

I admit I almost thought the same thing at first because of the slight shinyness, but if you take the edge of another chip and lightly scratch it on the inlay, and then next to the inlay, you will notice a difference.

The trkings, on the other hand, do have a coating over the whole surface (except the edges). That's one down-side I see re trkings. Seems sort of like buying a leather sofa and wrapping it with plastic.

Also, if this can be trusted, the weight difference is negligeable (2%-3%):

most Paulson chips are like that before in terms of durability. They always rub off on one another, this is exchange for the that trademark "soft" sound of the Paulson chip.

Blue chip is a harder/more durable chip but then people complain it sounds too hard/hollow.

Cant have your cake and eat it too!!! ......or can you?
