The preflop bluff

I am a very tight conservative type player that usually only raises on bigger pocket pairs or a couple of high cards. This is the kinda bluff that plays off reputation. If I am in late position and i get low connectors or my personal favorite 8 4, I will raise the pot size. Most of the time I just take the blinds but when I do get called, it is easy to assume that the caller has a couple high cards or a pocket pair. Now if you hit on the flop with two pair or a straight you can move all in and get called by someone that thinks they are calling your bluff. Now if the flop hits the high cards and you detech weakness from the caller you can throw out another bet and see if they fold. But when they bet into me when the board hits high cards I just throw it away leaving them confused. I always get asked if I had pocket Js when an A K x hit and they bet into me.

This is very effective for me because I use it sparingly.

All depends on the crowd you're playing with. In loose, low-limit games, bluffing pre-flop is virtually useless, since a few fish play just about anything. In any case, though, when you're regarded as a tight player, bluffing becomes much easier.
