I picked it up while waiting for my flight at McCarran yesterday and read a good chunk of it during my flight back last night. I'm really impressed with the second edition, and I particularly enjoyed the chapters from Caro and Zolotow. Haven't gotten much deeper into it than the Limit Hold'em chapter by Jennifer Harman, but what I've read so far has already been worth the purchase price.

Absolutely. They skip all the character exposition in the sequel.
You can just pick up the second volume without reading the first.

I've gotten about as far as you have (read Caro's section and started Jen Harman's), and these sections of the book are very good. Caro's section makes you want to subscribe to his site (which I don't think he plugs so much as once... Doyle's plugging of doylesroom.com, on the other hand...). Just great stuff. Haven't gotten through enough of Harman's section to give an opinion.
However, a word of warning... if you've read Super/System 1 and the NL section in particular, note that the NL section in Super/System 2 is EXACTLY THE SAME, word for word, as the original aside from a few very minor changes in sectioning and ordering, plus a 2 page bit on tournament strategy. Very disappointing in my eyes. There should be a LOT of information about how poker has changed and how Super/System should adjust to deal with these changes. Simply "gambling a lot" isn't enough any more... the new players want to gamble and are even more aggressive than Super/System recommends. Same old same old is not enough to combat this.
