I have a birdcage and a bunch of racks (bought them from 5 star deal). When i first got my egyptians I put 20 in a slot, and tried to stack them (in my birdcage) and it was a wabaly mess. I then put an extra chip in each row (21), so the row was very tight, and they stacked beautifully. Same thing with my vineyards. I always thought 20 was standard, is it me?

I can only get 20 Nexgen's in my racks...there's a about half a chip worth of space left over

That sounds a little odd for Chipcos or Paulsons. I'd suspect that you may have gotten a batch of racks that are a little bigger than what they normally get or the racks that come with the birdcage are from a different vendor. I got some racks from 5star as well and they'll only take 20 of any of the casino grade chips (but I don't have enough Bud Jones chips laying around for a stack, so I'm not sure. The racks I have measure out to 2.70 inches exactly (a little over 68mm) for the inner dimension of the chip row.
Update Just checked 5stardeal's site. Seems that the racks that they sell are made in the U.S. I suppose it's possible that they may have had some racks made in China at one time that varied in size. You might want to just get another order of racks from 5star the next time you place an order for something else, after all they're only $1.25 apiece. The rack that they sell right now doesn't come with racks, but if yours did, they probably weren't made in the U.S. I'm guessing that their bird cage is an import at $59 since a casino birdcage usually goes for about $200

i could only fit 19 in a row of the royal flush chips in the racks i got from 5 star. I can fit 20 very easily of the faux clay dice chips in there, and i can get 21 in and its very nice and snug. I dont know about your paulson or chipcos but i can fit 21. It will be interesting to see how many of my pc.com chips i can fit in there when they come in the next week or so cant wait.

different batches of China racks are slightly different in size.
The Paulson racks fit REAL tight as that expect their clays to wear a little.
The Plastic Chipco racks are a tad wider than the Paulsons,
The China racks...... You roll the dice.........

I thought it was standard to, and I bought the same crap chip racks from the same place.
21 is find but 20 is all wobbley 
guess i'll have to ask this before I buy any more chip racks

Just bought 1000 High Roller chips from 5star via one of their eBay auctions; and apparently they fit 21 chips per row. Frustrating...

the chipco racks i got fit my chips fine, theyre a tiny little bit loose, but DEFINATELY NOT loose enough to fit another chip in... not even close enough to do that....
