$20,000.00 1st prize tourney. Day one, Round 4

I have $6600.00 in chips, which isn't great, but I'm not short stack.
Blinds are $300-$600, and I'm in the SB.

This is a tight aggressive table, good players, not a lot of checking and calling.

5 players limp in in front of me, all late position.

I have A Heart K Heart .

How would you play it?

Ugh... tough choice. Normally I would raise about 3 times the BB, but that will eat about 1/4 of your chips. Hmmmmm... I think I would go all in at this point.

Well, that's how I played it. The table folded around to 1 before the button, who debated for a long time (I had great table image at this point, no buddywanted to give me a chance to double up).

He finally called, with about 8k in chips. Pocket 77s. They held up. Not sure if I could have made that call unless I was sure it was a coin flip. He knows at best it's a coin flip for nearly his entire stack, but more likely, I had him dominated. He even caught another 7 on the river to rub some salt in the wound.

The only thing that makes sense here is to push. A $2100 raise into a $3300 pot isn't going to narrow the field much (the first caller is getting ~2.5:1, and it's even better for the 2nd, etc), and if you limp and the flop isn't kind you could have a harder decision to make.

Is this $20,000 play money?

And no, it's not play money.

i would say pushing all in would be the best move.. normally in a MTT when the blinds are 10% or more of my stack (600 BB and a 6600 stack) i'll play with two options.. all in or fold... i find that way if you double up you're in a good position again... if you wait any longer your all in bet won't be worth a thing.. you have to go all in while it still counts for something...

Tough choice between all-in or decent raise. I would only go all-in if your goal is to take the pot right then and there and you think no one will call. Otherwise, you want to leave yourself room to withdraw if the flop does not hit the way you want it to. Of course, in general I'm not a fan of all-in pre-flop unless I only have a few bets left and need to force the big stack to wager a significant portion of his chips.

tough, comes down to whether or not you want to swipe the blinds or play the hand...

I like the option of a 2BB raise, and let that go around the table. Riskier, but gives you a big pot to push into if you hit on the flop. If you don't hit or it's a really bad flop - you can respectfully bow out if you're bet into by 77 and still have a decent stack of chips.

All-in or limp. Please don't put half your stack out there with only a 35% chance of hitting the flop.
