Alright here goes...
I've got pocket 10's in the BB and make it 2 bets to go.
I have one caller, button raises, I call, next guy folds.
Flop comes, Q 10 2 rainbow.
We have a decent pot here... I go all in. I don't think this guy has pocket Q's, and I'm willing to take my chances. Besides, this table was tight. I had pocket A's and K's previously, and didn't even get called with a 4x BB raise.
He calls... I'm thinking, "God he has Q's."
No... he has A Jo, and he's hoping for the inside straight draw.
He caught it on the river.
Bad luck or Bad play?

about 5:1 unlucky. . .

Pretty unlucky, but I would have slow played it for chips before just pushing all in.
About 6:1 unlucky given the guy's 4 outs.

Thanks for the replies. I felt it was unlucky as well, but I had to get some criticism from the guys and girls around here until I made peace with the loss hehe.

Unless you are looking for sympathy I have to question why are you even questioning if this was bad luck or bad play?
The only reason I think it was a "bad play" was because I'm a little shocked you got called by anything outside of QQ or Q10.
When you make a set and the board is a rainbow, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to price the next card and then decide on the turn what to do...I think most of the time damn near everything folds to that bet.
When you make a set on a board that doesn't scream danger, I think you should be willing to draw money into the pot, not slow play, but price the next card and keep the Q or the 10 in there with you. Even an open ended draw there, they are gonna miss 2/3's of the time.
Anyway, for AJ to call you, he must have thought you had nothing at all, or he's an idiot.

That reply there is why I posted this... I knew someone like you would come along and list a few things that I could have done better.
I thought my play was good... but I was sure some people around here could give me a few ways to do it differently next time.
I think the thoughts of limit holdem crept into the back of my mind, with people chasing and catching... so I tried to get him out of there. I don't know... either way, I'm not too happy with the end result.
Thanks for the constructive criticism.

I think your opponent just made a bad play and got bailed out. Junk like that happens. Hate when it does, but it does. If it wasn't for luck I'd win every hand.
I think you did the right play. Your hand is only as good as the cards on the board. You made an annoucement with the large bet that you hit something big. You made him pay to see the turn and river and he got lucky.
I will try and take down the pot when I have the best hand showing or make them pay dearly to see the next card if there is a straight or flush draw. You did just that, not much more you could do to push him off.
You may have survived by folding when the straight possibility hit on the river but if this was a tournament you just left yourself short stacked and in trouble anyway. If it was a cash/table game and you can reach in your pocket for more chips that is different.

Basically I'd say this:
a.) You got lucky he called.
b.) You got unlucky he caught his straight as you were the favourite to win.
c.) If you go all-in with the 2nd nut hand, then you risk that everyone but the nut hand folds. Not a wise play.

For the record, "bad play" and "bad luck" are not mutually exclusive.
You can play well and have bad luck. Play well and get lucky. Play poorly and get lucky. Play poorly and have bad luck. They have precisely zero to do with each other.
And Gol: it's not disguised so well actually.
