Good things about those chips: they're semi-cheap.
Bad thing: they're plastic chips with metal slugs in the middle, and you can get a much cheaper version that is no more or less in quality right here. They're basically the same as the dice/suited/etc plastic chips.
As for poker table stuff, try Scott Keen's Forums or HomePokerTourney
Good luck!

im not a big fan of chose chips. They are just a standard plastic chip. They say clay composite but mean plastic composite. They are no better than the dice or suited chips except they have a sticker on them.
They will probably get the job done though. And if you like the graphic then go for them. There is worse chips out there.
As for a table do a search on this board there are many threads about building your own poker table.

it entirely depends on how much you are willing to spend and what kind of quality you are looking for.

Well, first of all, I highly recommend you get sample chips of all different types before you buy anything. Chips are all about looks, feel, and sound, which cannot be adequately described via web pictures and text.
If you're spending less than $0.40/chip, you're probably looking at getting plastic/composite chips, with or without metal inserts (slugs). You may not mind the feel and sound of the cheaper plastic/slug chips. Or you may think the feel and sound of the higher-grade slug chips (like Nexgens) is worth the extra cost. Or you may find that a lightweight all plastic/composite chip is more to your liking.
For more than $0.40/chip, you can start looking at very high-grade composite chips (like these), or even start looking at ceramic or "real clay" chips.
Back to your chip: I bought a sample of this chip from Apache. It is a standard plastic and steel-slug chip with that "ringing" dice-chip sound. The plastic is a little softer than a dice chip, but not by much. There is a ridge all around the edge of decal, which bothers me. And the print quality is bad. IMHO, the price (for 1000) of $0.22/each is too expensive for this (or any slug) chip. You could do a lot better than these. (BTW, the ones at 5 Star Deal look like the same chip).
But if you like this style, I bought a very similar sample from Poker 'n' Stuff (link) that I think is much better in quality and cheaper. It is a steel-slug chip, but the plastic composite is much higher quality, the decal print quality is excellent and has a nice matte-finish clear-coat that is flush with the rest of the chip. Plus, it does not have that sharp ringing sound at all. But weighing in at 13.5g, it is too heavy for my taste.
Enough of my opinions--get some samples and check them out yourself:

P.S. There is a ton of information in this forum about chips--if you poke around a bit here and on the 'net you can self-educate yourself (like I did) and become quite an "expert" in a short amount of time. Since you will probably be spending several hundred dollars on a product that can last you a lifetime, it is well worth the effort to make a decision based upon your judgment, not someone else's.

R Decker has some good links and good info for you Chief. I would also email the sales dept on this web site PokerChips.com an ask for samples of their "true clay" chips.
I would also go here and buy sample of Paulson's James Bond chips.
With those two you will get samples of two of the three highest end chips. Order samples from R Deckers link at Apache and get their Chipco Samples and Real Clay Samples. Heck, order the Composite samples to to see a variety of lower-end and less expensive chips.
And go here to 5StarDeal.com and order samples of chips.
Once you do all that, check out some of the best customs in a long time that are done on the Paulson James Bond chips I mentioned earlier.
Also, I should collectively appologize. Instead of giving you a good/bad or thumbs up/thumbs down answer you were looking for, we're telling you to get informed about all the styles and types. We're geeks.

Just to echo a few earlier comments:
For table design/building,
www.homepokertourney.com is the best place to starting for the basics of table building (costs, materials, etc) and various sites for supplies.
www.scottkeen.com/forum is THE best place to go for any table building advice, etc. It might just take a little bit longer to get all the information.
For chips, first answer these 2 questions:
1. How many chips do I need?
2. How much am I willing to spend?
If you only need 500 chips and have $500 to spend, you can get some pretty good chips.
If you need a 1000 chips and have only $200 to spend, you're pretty much stuck with lower end chips.
Most importantly, GET SAMPLES. I screwed this part up and I'm stuck with some chips I don't care for and am trying to sell.

| ChieF wrote: | | Whats the Max ammount of people I could play with, with 250 Chips. | This question is not a simple one to answer. Depends on what kind of game: cash or tourney, the limits/blind structure you are using, and what the denominations (if any) are of your chips. If you are thinking of buying a set, it's better to think about what kind of games you want to play, and how many people will be playing. After getting this figured out, then you can calculate the number and type of chips you will need. Check out this link for help: http://www.holdempokerchips.com/howmanychips.asp
(Mods: we really need a Chip FAQ for this group, I think . . .)

I don't have the links off hand, but go to "search" at the top of the page and type in something like "James Bond Paulson's". There has been a bit of discussion about these chips within the last few weeks. I personally like them a lot and will have a set in about 2 weeks.

ohhhh, maaaan. . . *takes a big gulp of Heineken*. . .
Dude, there are literally a bazillion posts on these chips in this forum, not to mention a group buy (in which I am buying 1500 of them, and which is supposed to end today), as well as another group buy on a different version of these in another forum. You could get a much better price and maybe design if you go for one of these group buys. Check this group buy out before you decide to buy direct from Apache.
