Here's my thinking:
Potential flushes/straights are easy enough to spot looking at the board and you could sometimes make presumptions that the top pair is somewhere among the players however I feel that two pair & trips (based on a pocket pair plus one from the table - particularly the low ones that may have just induced calls preflop) can be quite tricky to detect.
What sort of signs to people look for to maybe indicate a trip using a pocket pair or two pair being held by someone (this can also be extended to the full houses also)?
Some ideas perhaps (maybe each of these on their own wouldn't be enough but perhaps together):
- High connecting cards present on the board
- Re-raising after the river when there is no straight or flush possible)
- Preflop raising followed by checking on the flop when high cards are present
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I always give pause when I'm just called pre-flop and on the flop. Because I bet aggressively, someone usually has something strong if they haven't shown to play loose. When this happens, and I don't hit another card on the turn, I check. I have a good feeling that I'm beat, even if I have a pretty strong hand. I hope they check and give me another card at that point, but unless I hit trips on the river, I would probably assume I'm beat.
