Gentlemen,
I'll condense the backstory:
I ordered sample from everyone who makes custom logo chips. My group did not like the chipco's, for various reasons, all of which are being reconsidered the longer we hold them. The graphic from both The Chip Store and Home Poker Chips are great and the size off the artwork is beyond what we had hoped for, but we still have issues with the chips.
All of us find the lip/seam that the side wrap forms all the way around the diameter of the chip to be unacceptable--just really anoying. We all acknowedge that it is a tiny thing, but it is the small things that make up life.
Will these wear down in time? If so, what are we looking at here and what is the time frame? Is there anything I can do.
Thanks

I also strongly dislike that white ring around the edge of the chip, but ChipCo claims this is there to REDUCE wear on the edges. I have no clue as to whether or not this is true, by I have two sets of Nevada Jacks ceramics, and neither shows one bit of wear in that area, and they are shuffled constantly for 3-4 hours 3 times a week.

Based on some Chipcos I have from casinos, I'd say that the seam (not the white ring) will not wear off. You might want to stick with a clay chip if the seam concerns you.

The 'full bleed' ChipCo's (where the graphic goes all the way to the edge of the chip) will indeed show wear.
See here:

The green ChipCo chip on the left was a full-bleed chip and after about a month of shuffling at my office, you can see where the wear-ring appeared.
That's why ChipCo isn't that thrilled with making full bleed chips anymore and mostly encourage their custom chip folks to include that white band around the edge. It's a different chip as well...the white ring chip having a very slight raised edge to it. The full-bleed chip is flat.
Cheers,
John

I wonder why Chipco can't make their chips in a different base color other than the ceramic white. For a basic red $5 chip, if the base color of the ceramic is also red, it would be hard to tell if the chip got worn to a point to see the base since it's not white.
