I was at the Sands in AC for a $60 + $20 rebuy and double add on tourney. 74 people entered with top prize at $6,100. Make it down to 2 tables with 14 people. I have $16,500 in chips...blinds are $4,000-$2,000 with $500 antes.
I'm on the button. I get pocket 10's. 2 people ahead of me go All In. I call. One guy has...(I kid you not) A-3 os and the other has A-J os.
Flop comes X-10-Q
Yahoo! I have a set!!!!
Turn comes J.
Annnnnnnnd, you guessed it, the river was a K. Giving the other two idiots a miracle str8. That left me with only $4,500 in chips. Next hand I had K-10 os and went all in and lost.
#14 and only top 9 paid.
There is always next time.

In my opinion, and i think some people would agree, that when 2 ppl go all in before you, you have to think they have a decent hand(high pockets). my self, i wouldnt of called, but it also depends there stack size etc.

I would have folded AA, but I am all in w/ 88 to kk (see valuable folding AA info in other threads)

It was a risky call with tens. The A,3 was short stacked and saw an ace. He was probably trying to pick up the blinds if he raised first. He had very few options witht he blinds so high and him having less than you and you were short stacked.

If I see 2 people go at it and lock horns allin preflop - I usually get out of their way unless I have a big hand and have them significantly outstacked.
Heck, even 7-2off has a 1-in-8 chance of cracking AA allin preflop. That late in the tourney, an allin for me has to be post flop nuts or the above scenario. Too much bad out there to happen.

Agree with the rest -- TT not strong enough for me to call two all-ins. I'd call it with AA, would have to think about KK. Anything else, forget it.

Thanks guys. You're comments are helping make me a better player. I seem to be making it to the bubble and hopefully if I apply all this advise, it can get me over the next hurdle and into the money.
I must be an OK player to make it that far, I hope I can turn into a good player and make some money.
Weekend of April 1 to 3, I will be in AC entering every tourney i can.
