royal flush!!!

i just started playing holdem for real money after playing a ton online. i was at my local house game NL .25-.50 blinds when i pick up AhQh. I get 2 limpers in front of me and i make it $2 to go (a pretty standard raise). They both call and the flop comes down

Kh Ks Jh.

The guy in early position chucks in another $2, the other folds and i smooth call with my straight/flush draw. The Qs falls on the turn and he bets $2 and i think about it for a while. I finally figure that with 13$ in the pot and still drawing to the ace high flush/straight, which i hope will pay me well. The river brings

10h.

I swear i didn't even react to it, it was like it wasn't real. I just couldnt believe it. Slowly it sunk in and he bet $5 at me, with $25 left in my stack. I sat pondering it for a while, pretending to be wondering if i could bluff him out. I knew that he would probably call $10 more (i felt he wanted me to raise him with a flush), based on the size of the pot, and would be very likely to raise me all in if he had a hand worth calling my all in, so i just raised $10. well, surprise, he bet my last ten bucks and i called and showed the poor boy the nuts. he had kings full of queens. the room went crazy, the whole table stood up and people came over to see the spectable. greatest feeling ever, and it happened to me in my 16th hour of live play. i cant wait til the next time!

That's awesome, u were very lucky he was sitting on a massive hand, he must have been sick as a dog! Royal Flush doesn't come round too often, I've never seen one in about 3 years of play......

and now the guy with the full house is sitting in a dark room crying leaning back and forth wondering what went wrong. he picks up a piece of paper and slowly writes "DEATH LIST #1"....

Gread big win story...
I was playing a NL sit n go the other day and got my AA to match up to a AKK flop. One guy kept calling my fairly large bets... until finally at the end he shows (never having bet me) a royal straight flush Very Mad , which would have been the only hand that could have beat my boat (or another straigh flush, or he could have had KK).

Did I play that wrong, knowing that there were very few cards in the deck that he had to have in order to beat me?

I figure that I played it right. I was trying to lure a bunch of calls to get as much out of him as I could. I figured that if he had something that big that he'd come over the top on at least one of my last bets. But he just called. It was a really big hit on the TC, but it probably could have been worse if he'd just have bet an all in.

I guess I don't mind loosing a big hand like that because there is little one can do when facing a royal flush in ones opponents hands. Specially when you have AAAKK.

It reminded me of the last hand in the movie Maverick. (I just wasn't Maverick here).

I've only been playing online (at UB) since mid December 2003 and have hit 2 Royal Flushes in that time . One was only in play chip game , and the other at a .25/.10 table ....wish I was on a larger $ table at the time. Who knows when I'll see one again. Unfortunatly I was also not the first to hit a royal during the bonus pot period UB has going every 90 min, so missed out on that too.

Hehe.

Thanksgiving (a yank holiday, Gen.) 2002, Adam (the other admin here)and I were playing heads up NL hold'em.

I had an AQ of clubs dealt. I raise preflop, Adam calls. Flop comes JTK clubs. Flustered, I look at my hole cards to make sure, and declare. "Hey buddy, you dealt me a Royal flush". I bet fairly big, and he raises. So all in I go. He thinks for a second, and calls. Turns out he dealt himself a small flush as well.

Thats my only royal. It felt pretty good. Smile

Funny story - that exact thing happened to my mom when she was in the service in germany - she had a full house against a flush.

She lost 400+ Marks (her rent)!

Ever since then, she's been way anti gambling...wonder why?
