Yep, I'm proud of myself. It was my third live 100+ player game, and usually I don't do too well, just not playing my game right I guess. I do a lot better in SnGs. Anyway, here's my quick story.
$50+5 buy-in.
140 players (18 in the money).
12000 in chips to start with (I know it's insane, but oh well...)
I fold the first few hands. One hand I limp in, hit nothing, so I fold. Maybe the 20th-25th hand, I get AA, hit trips on flop. Up to $15000. Few hands after, I get AQo, raised to 2000 (blinds were 400-800 i think), one caller. Flop comes 10-10-7, he bets 1000, I call. Turn bring an Ace, he bets 5000, I think a while, look for tells and read that he doesn't have a 10 and he probably has an ace too... so unless he has a K, I got him covered, so I call. River, rag. He goes all-in for like 3500, I call. He shows A-7, I show my AQ... he immediately points at his 7, to show that he has two pairs, everyone tells him that he's wrong 'cause his sevens are now worthless and I win because my Q kicker. Man, I really felt bad for the guy... how can you not read the board right... oh well... at least I read him right! Up to $25000. Table break.
The next table was pretty solid, but not too bad... I only stayed for 15-20 hands there, but I only played 2. One with JJ and the other AKo (the flop AA8) against the same guy, I took him out. Up to $35000. Table break.
Again, I only stayed there for 10-15 hands, but only played 2. Lost a few thousands on one, I was down to 29000. I get AA on the big blind (blinds 2000-4000), one guy calls, the small blind raises to 8000. I think for a while, acting, wanting the other guy to think I was strong but not too strong. I go all-in for an extra 21000, but he folds. Up to 40000ish. Table break.
We were only like 50 left, and they were dropping like flies. I hit some bad cards... managed to pick up a few blinds to survive. About 30000, the blinds at 5000-10000, 22 players left... man, that was tough. I know that this is the PERFECT time to pick up the blinds, to go on the final table in a decent position, but the cards were so bad, that I couldn't take a chance of getting called and outted on the bubble. Anyway, I managed to survive, getting at the final two table with 16000 (blinds at 10000-20000).
I was the dealer, so I had to few hands to make a move. As soon as I get something decent, I make a move. A few hands in, I get A2, I call, and 4 other callers (a chance of getting 80000, w00t!!) but they have AK, AJ, KQ, and the other one folded. No twos, so I'm out in 13th. Good for $70.
I am quite happy with my performance, 13 out of 140. Played no more than 10-12 hands, never lost a showdown, except for the last one of course. Played all my big hands perfectly, played the flops perfectly when I limped in (fold, or bet, depending on position). The only way (that I'm aware of) I could've done better is when the blinds were at 5000-10000 where I could've steal a few of those. Maybe I was too wimp... any comments on this??
Anyway, looking forward for the next one!!
