Here are all the poker related purchases that I've made over the last 30 days or so:
Racetrack style Poker table built by a TH-P member - pics coming soon (I already had a sporting good store hold 'em table)
1,080 Nevada Jack Skulls poker chips (I already had 600 labeled Nexgen's)
Arcylic 1000 chip carrier with 10 acrylic chip racks (I already had multiple aluminum cases)
10 plastic chip storage boxes (I convinced myself that my Nexgen's and color-up chips need to be kept in chip boxes)
2 decks of Kem's - Paisley (I already had Copag's in great condition that I really like)
2 decks of Dal Negro's - Freedom (I already had Copag's and Kem's)
I keep buying stuff that I don't really need, but my wants are killing my wallet. Is anyone else out of control?

Yeah I've bought 700 NJ Skulls last year.
Bought 500 Sands... on sale now.
Bought 600 NJ clays, don't really need them, don't really have the money.
That's life. Being undisciplined is my specialty.
There are far worse things I could be spending money and an obsession on.

You want out of control
I purchased 300 of the new bond chips
500 nevada jacks clays
and 2 days ago won an auction on ebay for 500 of the original bond clays.
THATS OUT OF CONTROL
In the musicians field this is called GAS Gear Acquisition Syndrome ie.. no matter how many guitars or amps you have there is always one more.
I guess this is the same thing CAS Chip Acquisition Syndrome.
Ive learned my leson though Buy quality now rather than latter. It will save you a ton of money in the future.

Same problem here....I bought a freakin KILL button for limit kill games..........nevermind that me and my friends have never played a limit kill game together before or since.
I almost bought 500 wsop chipcos....then talked myself out of it since I am buying 500 of the new Paulsons that are coming out...yet...I still tried to convince myself that two tourney sets would have been a good idea.
WE ARE ALL SICK.

Yeah and this new custom NJ thing is gonna kill me, too... I'm sure.

Good point Yeltzen. I think we all have this problem, but it is not really a problem. If buying chips and tables makes you happy, then buy chips and tables. I have restrained myself lately...Oh wait, I am in the James Bond Paulson group buy!! Seriously though, I have gotten much better and I made the mistake of slowly building up from a dice set, to a better set, to a better set, rather than just getting what I really wanted the whole time. I would have saved a lot of money had I just forked up the dough and bought my perfect set.
Take that as advice if any of you are in the market for your first set.

I'm glad I'm not alone. And those are wise words from Yeltzen.
This behavior is nothing new to me. First it was darts (I had every dart doohickie that you could think of), then is was cigars (I bought every reasonably priced accesssory that I could find...cases, lighters, cutters, punchers...) and now it's poker. And this poker bug is worse than the other 2 combined.
Now I have to go to Ebay and find the perfect poker sign

Last year I was like this with golf... every week I needed a new club or ball to make my bag perfect. Now I'm doing the same with poker chips... I can't pick one out of the two sets I have, so I'm keeping both and I'm more than happy. Broke as a joke, but that's okay. Next is the table. Ha.

Your right..it's not a "problem" its really a hobby. That's the way I look at it. I've completely stopped buying cardboard with baseball and basketball players on them now and now collect gaming accessories.
You guys are more hard core than me, but I still have the fever. First I bought the cheap 11.5 suits a few years back, then I bought some cheap 9g diamond chips for home tourneys, then I bought a set of Palmas chips for my cash home game. I resisted buying a full set of those Chipco WSOP replica chips, just bought 10 of each as a sample. I also have a 300 chip order in for the Rounders/TK King group buy (which I really don't need and haven't told the wife about yet) and have been salivating at Ten's new Paulson group buy. Control, I say, Control.

Here's a recap of the past year:
Sold 1,200 dice chips and bought a set of 900 BPC Modern Clay (Blue Chip) and 700 BPC Archetypes (Chipco), for some reason that wasn't enough, bought a set of 700 Rounders Card Club coin inlays (Matsui). Then I saw Vineyard chips (Paulson), had to get a set of those, bought over 1,000 before the prices went crazy (got lucky). Decided I needed to upgrade the BPC's, sold the BPC Modern Clays, bought 1,200 Palmas Club Casino chips (ASM) - awesome chips. Custom WSOP chips look too cool, sold the BPC Archetypes and bought 1,200 WSOP chips (Chipco). For some unknown reason I bought a set of 600 Discovery Cruise chips (Paulson). Didn't like the California colors of the Vineyards, sold those for a nice profit and bought 1,000 Dunes Casino chips (uncirculated Paulsons!) - The nicest set available in my opinion. Now that NJ Clays are on sale I just bought 400. Do I win? I have 6 sets of chips? 3 retired casino sets, the Matsui coin inlays, the WSOP chipcos and NJ clays on the way! There's a nice set of Bud Jones Dodge City Casino chips on ebay, somebody please outbid me.

I think you win the chip sickness, but to win the overall sickness, you have to spend your every waking moment thinking/reading about poker related stuff. You would also be an active member of no less than 5 poker forums. You would also be a person who watches ANYTHING poker that comes on tv...I mean you got it so bad that you thought about switching your cable company because Fox Sports Net was eliminated from your channels. You also have no-limit hold 'em on your Treo 600 phone. You even have dreams of poker on occassion. You host a poker night about twice a month and you have another home game that you attend every week.
The overall sickness title is mine!!!!

ky70. i think i am running pretty close to you.
- i host a home game about twice a month
- i play online almost every night (of course i play with chips while playing.) i even bought a second LCD monitor for the computer so i can have more windows open.
- about 9 poker books
- one set of crappy dice chips
- one set of not as crappy "clay" diamond chips
- one set of 500 paulson home chips on order
- at LEAST 10 sample sets of chips
- made my own race track table
- the basement is no longer the family room. it's the poker room.
- only one set of KEMS with cut cards
- i have a homemade "conversion kit" so i can make the dining room table into a poker table when we have more than 9 people
- TiVo season pass to all poker shows
- TiVo wishlist for the word "poker"
- poker card coasters (ya, that's right, coasters)
- started collecting real chips from casinos. mostly $1 chips. some $5. have about $75 invested in that so far.
- going to buy a drill press so i can make a display case for the collector chips
- occasionally i DON'T dream about poker. can't even count how many tournies (real and made up) i have played / replayed in dreams.
- a poker blog so i can share my daily poker playing with.. well.. mostly myself.
- we went looking at open houses a few weeks ago and the first thing i said at everyone was "this will be a great poker room" or "this house sucks, not enough room for poker tables"
best of all.. i have a fiance that supports the whole thing. of course she thinks i am crazy, but she doesn't mind it at all.
it's not just poker. whenever i get interested in something i take it to the extreme. i am not usually one to settle for less than the best quality. in fact, i wanted to get a caliper to measure my chips for making a display case and i found myself looking at the $150+ calipers.. to measure chips!! wtf?! the other "hobbies" that consume me are mountain biking, motorcycling and home improvements (name a tool, there's a good chance i have it).

Started out the year with 300 hot stamped diamond chips, approx 15 years old. Got my moneys worth out of these. Started playing A LOT more this year, curse the day I found this board!
Bought 650 crappy Royal Flush chips - Sold almost immdediately
1000 Suits chips
700 TR King Cashbah Club Chips
Group buy -- 650 Custom Kings Crowns
Sold the Casbah Clubs to cover the Kings Crowns
Here's where it gets confusing:
Building a mixed set of Paulsons --
100 .25 cent Binions chips
280 Bell Club $1 Paulsons
40 $25 American Cruises Chips
75 $5 American Cruises Chips -- GETS STOLEN from work. This really killed me! Freaked out, started looking for $5 chips. In the process, find a guy selling 800 Paulsons, really nice, wants $1.40 each. Commit to buying them. Start selling things to come up with money:
Sold 450 Suits chips (kept 550)
Sold the Bell Club chips after never having played with them, had them for about a week. Sold off all the $25 American Cruises chips.
Meanwhile -- I had been trying to sell my octagon table to buy an oval so I can fit more people. Recover the octagon and it sells right away. I have a friend that builds tables -- I can't buy a table because I'm still trying to come up with the money for the Paulsons. I FINALLY come to my senses (well sort of) back out of the deal on the Paulsons, buy a table. With the left over money from selling stuff, have enough to get
200 $1 Binions chips.
Bought 60 $5 Crystal Park Chips
Give the guy that sold me the $5 American Cruise chips a hard time about not wanting to sell me more $5 chips at the same price, he gives in, I buy 75 $5 American Cruise chips, 25 $25 chips.
Will sell the Crystal Park chips soon.
Bought original $100, $5, and $25 Kings Crown Chips
$25 Thunderbird chip
3 Sets of Kem cards, getting one more as a bonus for playing online so much
Roughly 10+ books
3 Elite 550 cases
I have more than one regular game to chose from on many nights of the week.
Run my own game every Sunday Night.
Play online usually every day.
Had a dream last night that I was late to work and couldn't find my way through the building. Went into a room and it looked like a dealer school, had awesome clay chips that don't exist, except in my mind. Woke up and told my girlfriend -- also getting sick of all this.
Planning a trip to vegas as soon as I get my federal return.
I know I'm probably even leaving some stuff out.
After I get my Kings Crowns I have vowed to STOP. Maybe limit myself to 1 chipset per year.
Left out: 10 padded folding chairs
1 set of Copags
Posted Wed Mar 30, 2005 4:55 pm GMT by ky70

I like how the red table has the nice padded chairs and the black table has metal. Obvious which the main table is.

LOL ya two things I really need to work on is the lighting and seating. Both sets of those chairs were real cheap on ebay and almost every game one of the crumples under someone's ass. The clock was made by a guy on ebay he has them going now for 20 bucks. here is a link i forgot to mention that it includes a matching desk clock and a bunch of matching refrigerator magnets.
